They wink you then don’t reply?

What’s that about?

This has happened twice within a week where a nice attractive couple have sent me a wink. I’ve spent some time writing a respectful and friendly message in return which has been read and then just no answer, not even to say sorry not interested. I know my reply is probably one of hundreds but it seems a little rude to me when they instigated the contact.

Has anyone else experienced this?

There and to the left a bit

People run their profiles all sorts of different ways, some of which may seem inexplicable - could be any number of reasons, perhaps they liked your profile and winked to encourage a message but having read it didn't want to follow up (and didn't reply at all for fear of getting abuse back), perhaps one of them has read the message and is waiting to discuss with the other before replying, perhaps one of them sent the wink but the other read the message unaware of the wink, perhaps the wink was a ploy to get you to Fab their pics, perhaps any number of things...

....best thing you can do is accept it happens and not spend too much time thinking about it, because you'll likely never know the real reason.

Happens a lot. Messages get lost in amongst others, one side of the couple reads it then marks it unread for the other to see... All part of swinging life!

Up to you what you want to do. Delete the message and forget it, send another chase message, block them as timewasting or just leave it be and move on.

All fair comments thanks. You are right there could be any number of reasons so I will dwell on it no more.

Enjoy another lockdown weekend!

Same here, get this quite a lot in fact - must be a reason for the wink but the response message is often unread or deleted!

Winks on fab are a complete mystery to us. Someone winks, you wink back. Then nothing.

For us, if you wink and we wink back it opens the door for a message from the original winker. Afterall they winked you first. When they don't we think they must expect us to reply to their wink with a message.

Then there's the winks that you respond to with a wink back and they respond with a friend request. Er no! Don't think so.

I rarely even look at winks and never reply. Get enough grief on here for not replying to every message!

Maybe they just didn't vibe with your opener? Maybe they had a second look and decided against it? Who cares? It's just a wink, try not to worry about it too much OP. It's still lockdown, most people aren't actively looking for meets right now, maybe they just wanted to show some appreciation for you!

"I delete all winks without even looking at them sorry "

I never send winks myself anyway and prefer to write a message, but as is the nature of the beast on here, they are often unread or not responded to. I do accept however that this has a lot to do with the overwhelming number of guys doing the same.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I would guess accidental winks too as i have had a few over the years.

But i suspect some winks might be generated by the site to keep things interesting...

I just don't respond to winks to be honest... Probably just like s Fab.. Passing a compliment but no green light to instigate conversation... I guess if they really interested they would send a message

I sort of see your point and that may have been the case, however I feel a wink as an initial indication of interest, which would prompt some sort of response. A compliment can be having one of your pictures “fabbed” which is fair enough and doesn’t automatically mean they are interested in any more than that. But you are right to say that sending you a message is more definite sign that someone is keen to make contact.
