Want to treat myself to a new mattress

It's for a king size

Got a budget of about £400

Have read some online reviews and I am considering the Emma brand

I would love to hear people suggestions or recommendations

I've tried the Otty (too firm) ,Tempur(concrete) and Casper mattress with the latter being the one I have stuck with.

Can't help with Emma, but they all offer a period of free trial, so give it a go, if you don't like it, then return it.

Worth having a look at how easy they ate to clean too btw - the Casper has an easy to remove machine washable cover

I got a new emma one a few weeks ago, it’s great.

Just remember it takes 4-6 hours to fully inflate once it taken and the box and put on your bed

I have an Emma. Its my 3rd memory foam and by far the best. Nice and firm I love it for sleeping but a traditional mattress is better for fucking

I've got the 2nd most expensive IKEA one at the time.... can't remember the name. Shkurgleberbgle or something. Took some hammering and still very comfy yet supportive ( the very expensive one was a little soft for me)

We got best one we could from ikea, nice mattress then we got our lad a john lewis one...so much better than the ikea one.

Guy on ebay does shop soiled ones, the one we got had few little marks on it from when it was delivered and got returned, think it was about £1,700, we got it for £800.

I bought an Italian foam/memory foam king size mattress from EBay last year for just under £200. It has a wire edging to it that keeps the sides rigid if you sit on it.

I use it with a memory foam topper and it’s one of the best I have had, really comfortable but supports my back.

I think with some of the “brands” you are paying for the name and marketing.

Simba has the same problem. Knees just sink into it.

And you can’t turn them.

And I can feel the slatted bed base through it.

Bought the Harrison Spinks "Yorkshire Comfort" mattress in a double size and yes it is good. It's silent even when used, er, vigorously. It smells of hay and sheep barns at first.

Someone else said £515. Yes, they have gone up sinse we brought ours 3 years ago for £400. - sorry, didnt realise they have increased so much.

British Heart Foundation furniture have the contract for returns on a few of these brands if returned after sold. You can get a Simba mattress thats only been opened and sent back for a fraction of the rrp.

We have just gone through changing our mattress and it was a complete pain in the arse. We did some research in relation to our requirements and ended up with a Brook and Wilde for £700. Have to say their customer service is fantastic but their quality control is appalling and we are now on mattress number 4 This last one we have decided to give up and keep even though it’s not as good as we had hoped. It is definitely an big improvement on our previous but I would not recommend them if you were looking.

We replaced all our guest accommodation mattresses this time last year with Silentnight Miracoil double-sided ones - they obviously didn't get a lot of use as we were only able to open for a few months, but all our guests said they were comfortable, and one even asked for the details to buy one herself!

They're quite light, so easy to rotate and/or flip. We bought online from mattressnextday, where a Kingsize is currently priced at £249 - also available from Argos for £259...

Like a couple of others have observed, memory foam mattresses aren't the best for playing on - on one occasion, I hurt both my wrists through sinking into one when vigorously pounding a wife!
