What advice can anyone give when it comes to opening lines of a message , it seems to be a myth getting a response

There's a really helpful post called "Messaging for Dummies" in the Swingers Support & Advice forum.

Peterborough, Aberdeen, Leeds, Sheffield

I'd definitely open with either:

- hi hru

or

- u wnt 2 fk

I'm told that's pretty much guaranteed success.

The first thing anyone will do is look at your profile.

So best write one.

I wouldn't respond after seeing your profile. It's the profile that needs working on

Search the forums there are loads of threads asking the same thing. The general rule of thumb don’t copy and paste a message, read their profile there could be something on there that you can refer to. If you notice in one their pictures they have a band T-shirt of your favourite band refer to that (just an example).

Should I write a dissertation?

OP, you've been on fab for over a year and you've managed to write one sentence in your profile.

You see what the others mean now?

Half a sentence really.

Ok, youve asked for advice...here is my advice.

Your profile is your shop window. Its where you "sell" you.

If someone else has put effort into their profile they are more likely to get a response than a one liner.

You probably wouldn't walk into a shop with nothing in the window, same with a profile with nothing on it.

You are right, it doesn't need to be a dissertation, but it does need to give a flavour of who you are and what you are into and what you are looking for.

I get hundreds of messages. Some women get thousands. I'm drawn to profiles that have a handful of clear pictures (don't have to be face pix but definitely not all cock shots), and that have a bit of personality and humour in the text.

There are still no guarentees of responses (as there are no guarantees of anything on FAB) but the more effort you put in, the more chance of a positive response.

Good luck OP.

I thought when I write this it was blindingly obvious it was tongue-in-cheek, ironic, and not to be taken seriously... but having received a PM this morning saying "really you think that's good advice" (which I assume was meant to be a question), I apologise for not attaching huge flashing neon signs saying so, in case anyone else misuderstood too.

Make it personal tailored to the individual and don't paste the same thing to all.

What sort of thing do you write when you approach somebody for the first time? Do you say more than "Hi how are you?" or "Wanna meet?"

Post an example one of your opening gambits and we'll give our opinions.
