Narrow age filter

I am bored and this post is just idle curiosity.

Narrow age filters (say 31-31, 34-35, etc) always puzzle me. There is nothing one could derive from age. I always looked older and may look my age in a couple of year (I hope!).

What’s the idea behind it? If you have a narrow age filter, what characters do you look for? It can’t just be appearance as it varies anyway.

It could be to avoid people they know.

It could be to reduce messages massively if they use the age range message filter.

Message filter makes sense. I had someone view my profile whose filter was 31-31. That can’t be to avoid ppl they know. That will be an interesting friends and family circle if it’s true

I deal with one or two a day I get pretty efficiently

It is more of a problem for attractive profiles, I get it. But you have a good age range and not 31-31 for example.

Maybe they do it to cut down on incoming messages, they may widen the age range when they are feeling more chatty or when they are looking to meet

I guess if your 90 then you'd more than likely do it with a 99 year old. If you got a message from an 18 year old you'd get a heart attack.

Most of the 18 - 99 year old profiles are of people who cannot be bothered to alter the default settings.

As someone now in my 80s the response I get is usually you are too old when I message them, this is then followed by a hasty alteration of age parameters.
