We like to cycle during the summer - a nice hilly 10 miler to the naturist beach is a summer favourite. A least you aren't weighed down by wet swimwear on the way back !

Beach is 70 odd miles away for me else would love to ride there strip off, soak up the sun the ride home

100 mile per week here plus running. Sporty couples that share Lycra pics on here are my go to profiles for a perve. Can’t beat a naughty Lycra or gym/running pic.

Yea got 40 mile in yesterday, the lanes were very precarious. Don’t get on the bike as much as I’d like or used to. But just something about the solace and simplicity of being out there in the country side on two wheels. Fantastic

Took my road bike out for a spin yesterday.... think I need better gloves.... hands were ice blocks. Was having trouble using breaks and did not sift gear for around 5 miles... interesting as the final section home is always a hill.

2 hours in hot bath to defrost and loads of carbs and chocolate....

That is a lot of millage this time of year. I'm normally around 30-50miles a week. Sometimes head your way.

Agreed. It's all about routine - I just watch an episode of a boxset a day whilst on the trainer. It just becomes an automatic part of your day, and it means that come April I won't be starting from scratch.

Absolutely - keep at it folks in whatever way you can. I did 25 miles in a late lunch/pre darkness to get out in daylight on gritted roads and loved it - hate to think where I’d be without my bike!

Getting under the hour is more about weight, I’ve done a 59:10 on my last go but I’m 76kg, ftp is 305.

A mate flies up in 54 but he’s 62kg with same ftp as you.

Runner and ocassional cyclist here mainly in the summer. Took it up when I had a running injury abt 3 years ago.

Sometimes go to work by bike in the summer, used to be 36 miles each way. Now only 21 miles each way as moved job.

Done the London Prudential 100 in 2019 and another classic.

Hi - personally I’m a little weather shy these days, but early tomorrow looks great so will be out then for sure... I need to invest in decent gloves - rode last Saturday and lost the use of my hands for about 30 mins.... not ideal!

Easiest way is to drop the meck into the smallest sprocket and undo the cable. You want to pull it finger tight though the mech and tighten up. Click up the gears and if it's not quite shifting up (click click sounds) wind the barrel adjuster out (maybe one one the mech, shifter or downtube on the frame on a road bike)

Not nowadays, the derailleurs on my work bike haven't been adjusted in over 3 years

It gets used '365', & also some woodland/bridleaway riding too

To the extent that the mudguards clog, & the wheels barely turn

I think the top end of campag is nice to use where as 105/ultegra/dura ace all feel similar. I’ve had campy and shimano and didn’t notice much of a difference in the hoods really

Hoods have certainly got bigger on Shimano

I still have one of my road-bikes, from 1994, & the 8-speed Ultegra STI is tiny compared to the 2007 Ultegra (STI) 10-speed on my CX bike

Others here;

2010 Ridley (Ultegra STI, 10-speed, getting bigger/longer)

2013 Ribble 'blue' (Tiagra 10-speed, nice to hold)

2015 Ribble HF83 (Ultegra 11-speed, getting too long)

2017 Ribble CGR (Ultegra hydraulic 'brifters') now it's getting silly!!

But.... the plumbing has to go somewhere!!!

There's times l've raced Cyclo-Cross, & finished, & had to have my shoes/gloves removed for me, as l didn't have the manual dexterity to do so, due to numb fingers

Likewise, when l was fitter, & competed in fell-races, some of those were grim

I remember a couple that were almost cancelled due to the snow, & the prospect of competitors/signers-on not being able to get to the venue!!

Two hours in (race) shorts running around a moor certainly makes it disappear!!!

Loving Di2 on the road bike now it just works really well compared with having to keep adjusting cables, and the synchro shift features as well.

Did an xc race and at the end a load of Ghurkas were bird bathing themselves and their bikes in the car park puddles. I went back to the accom I'd booked and had a nice shower.

Does anyone have any views, as after looking around turbo's are like gold dust at the moment and my local bike shop is holding this one for me until today

We both us used to use a Tacx Flux S but have both changed during lockdown to an Elite Direto X and XR respectively. Basically you can't get the X anymore, it has been replaced by the XR.

Both machines are more sensitive than the Tacx, especially on gradients. Pairing it quicker and instant. We'd both give a thumbs up to the Direto X R.

So, it’s the weekend. 700x40, 29 x 2.4 or 26 x 4? Not quite as thrilling as Mrs T pondering what to wear to Le Boudoir...

Well I bloody enjoyed that today. Just 35 miles but a nice 18mph average given the flood water at certain points. Finished in glorious sunshine with a Mocha. Filthy bike now to get clean.

You can't go wrong with BMC. Swiss engineered, the carbon frames are hi-tech. You'll potentially get Ultegra groupset with it for £2k. The only thing you'd look to upgrade would be the wheels but that's par for the course on most bikes below £5k.
