OK, so I shave my pussy, but can't seem to get it as smooth as I'd like. I'm a big wimp and scared of waxing. How many "strips" does it take and is it really painful? X

Don’t do it i met someone who wanted me smooth down there I used the lotion that scrapes of and honestly was perfect

Hi Redhead.

I also shave and have always shaved but had it all waxed off last year for a holiday. It was very smooth afterwards but not totally smooth everywhere. I was a bit disappointed. It really, really hurt in some areas but was fine in others. When my hair grew back it was very patchy which was not a good look! I found I had to wait and wait until I could shave again.

I personally wouldn’t do it again even if it was free but you may well get on ok. I’m not a very hairy person, maybe it works better with more hair?

dont go for strip wax ... go for hot wax

with strip wax you will be tender for longer after as it can also stick to the skin whereas the hot wax doesn’t so much

in terms of numbers of “pulls” different waxers work in different size sections and some peoples comes out much easier then others so wont need to go over sections again so its very hard to say

some tips though:

dont skimp on price and use a good salon - not all waxers are equal

the more you stick with it the less painful it gets

hold the skin where the therapist asks to help stretch it as the skin will be pulled less

take a breath in just before they start and breath out as the strip comes off - not sure if this is a distraction technique or not but it seems to work

if you have a really low pain threshold pop a paracetamol half hour before

wear loose comfortable underwear for afterwards

if really nervous start off with just a bikini wax (a tidy up) and work up to a hollywood once you have a better idea what to expect

Go to a water and have it done properly. Hair grows in cycles, so you need 3 or 4 sessions to get the benefit and then itsba regular topup.

Mrs gets waxed every few weeks, Mr epilates. Neither of us find it painful, but that's just us maybe

I am quite sensitive down there, when I shave it can get a bit irritated, but I've been doing it more regularly to get used to it. I never used to bother unless I knew I was getting any hahaha x

once you get into a wax cycle this improves ... its because you have 3 phases of hair growth at one time and maybe some were just too short. to be pulled out that first time ... eventually they are all getting pulled out at the same time ... its also why it seems to grow back patchy ... phase 1 was closer to new hair growth so will start sooner etc

if i run my hands over i can feel a few tiny blonde hairs that are always there but cant even see them

mr is brave! i thought id try epilating when wax regrowth came back and was still super fine ... nope

im really sensitive yo shaving too... made the mistake of being impatient for salons to open and shaving in our october lockdown last year ... still tackling ingrown thats will not go away and massively regretting it ever since

if waxing then get it done by someone whos trained i had mine done every 6 weeks and it got easier as i went on however im dreading when lockdown is over and i start again as it will be like starting over again and that first rip is a bast**d lol but well worth the money shaving is for me a no go its waxing or trimmed bush

Yes, that’s the problem with shaving isn’t it, the ingrowns. I must admit, I didn’t get any with the waxing.

It’s bearable, Just sore. I found right in the middle just above the clit was very sore. Down the sides was fine. The softer areas were not too bad for me. I don’t know if that’s standard.

The lady that did me was brill and very patient. You can always stop!!!

mine is so much finer now that (pandemic not withstanding) just have sex between waxes now ... took me a while to get over that embrassmemt of not being bare but its so short and fine i just dont care now

oh! and if like me you like a sunbed, dont go for 2 days after a sunbed as its advised not to add hot wax to freshly tanned skin

and the say its more sore the few days before your period is due ( but i also thing a waste of a wax if the first 7 days you have a period anyway haha

Yes tried waxing and I got a better and longer result with the veet the thing with the veet is have to leave it on for the perfect time do a patch test in couple

Of places leave on for different times and find the one that works best xx

Agree with everything Girlinlingerie said. I love a proper waxing and I’m really missing getting my bikini done. Absolutely agree that you need to go to a proper waxing salon, make sure they do proper hot wax not the nasty strip wax, and yes you probably do get what you pay for. The salon I go to only does waxing, nothing else, so they’re specialists. My Brazilian (which is literally every scrap of hair, front, back and underneath, except for a very small strip) costs me £42-£45 depending on seniority and it’s worth every penny.

I don’t find it particularly painful, though the first time definitely hurts more than subsequent ones. And actually the increased blood flow to the area can be kind of nice

It’s less unpleasant than shaving for me, I hate shaving and it’s really bad for my skin, waxing is surprisingly gentler in that way as it doesn’t dry my skin out.

Lots of great advice here. Would also add that you get better, smoother results if you moisturise the area to be waxed for a couple of days beforehand. This way, the skin is soft so the hair does not break off but is pulled out including the root. Gives longer lasting results. Mrs SW

When they can open again, find a beauty salon to do it for you. They should use a different wax as they get closer to your lips. One that isn't as warm. They expect you to flinch on your first time too. I like getting mine done. I just go to a happy place and try not to think about what she's doing or where she's having to look.
