I'll be honest I haven't seen anyone saying they're offended recently. Either here or elsewhere.

I think difference of opinion is a good thing but some people can't discuss unfortunately

You may not like what I am going to say but it goes to understanding other people's positions.

Being black British I lived predominantly among white people whilst I was growing up in this country. I regularly ran into people who were insulting and then tried to say that I lacked a sense of humour or they were joking or I had a chip on my shoulder. I now have zero tolerance for that nonsense.

Just because I am neither gay, trans or Jewish does not mean I cannot take a stand against people who are homophobic, trans haters or antisemitic.

It is sad that bile is still produced today under the guise of being a joke or ignorance and minorities are supposed to defend themselves.

Quite similar to being a Scot under westminster rule.

Becoming offended only becomes from lack of knowledge for understanding everyone has a opinion not everyone's is the same but it's understanding without offending

This is how I grew up and look how far we've come my life has always been interesting with those as I grew up in a good way

And having a closed mind, or being without humour.

It really depends if what has been said is offensive.

Some things that are passed off as "banter" these days is not that at all. It's a way of people being twisted, cruel and having a dig thinking they will get away with it.

Humour is subjective, bullying isn't.

I can find a lot of what's said on here to be offensive

That doesn't mean I am personally offended

Exactly this! Just because you have a right to your opinion doesn't mean you're opinion can't be considered offensive.

Two things you need in life, understanding and a sense of humour. Without these you'll be easily offended

Having a difference in opinion can make people feel offended it's lacking imagination for humour

Hope my opinion doesn't make you feel offended

I'm offended by anyone thinking this line of reasoning is at all interesting or original.

People's 'ideals' are not some sacrosanct thing that have to be respected. If someone's ideals are offensive, unkind, cause harm, then it's fine to say so.

Assuming people who don't like your opinions are just not 'mature' is really shallow.

Have the courage of your convictions to listen to why someone thinks something is offensive and debate it, not try and shut them down with insults.

Finally, just because something is said in a joking manner does not mean it's all cool. Jokes can be every bit as hurtful as something said deadly seriously.
