Why is it whenever I go for a browse on the "members looking for a meet today" page in the NW, I always see the same profiles again and again and most of them advertising that they will only meet in a specific club?

Guessing that it works for them. One advantage of meeting in a club is that if peeps do a no show there are plenty of other willing to play.

If that is ALWAYS the case, one can only assume that, judging from the number of veri's you have, you must go to that club an awful lot yourself

I don't go to clubs at all. On the one occasion I did early in my FAB career I was asked to meet a couple at a club and on arrival I was stung for a years membership and an allday fee (I arrived at 8pm btw, unaware you had to pay the full price regardless of when you arrived) £80 is an awful lot to pay to prove you're not a timewaster.

(My veri's have all been earned at private parties and 1-2-1 meets)

Sorry, I read your reply in the wrong context...

It's just that I thought that the organised "Meets,Events" page was specifically there for day to day advertising...

£80?

Its cheaper to bribe a woman to be with you to escape the single mens charge.

I notice many of the same names on 'Meet today' in the NE. A good percentage are regularly on, but never seem to get verified........

Not everyone cares about verifications.

The ones that make me laugh are the ones from 'couples' where there is just the bloke available that day, and the day after, and the day after and so on. Yeah right! lol

well you shouldnt just meet a couple at a club to have fun with that couple, you should meet them at the club because you want to join/goto the club

you cant really complain about having to pay membership and entry to a club, thats your choice, and its not to proove your not a time waster, its to goto and join the club

if ur paying £80 just to show ur genuine, then maybe ur a little too eager/desperate for the meet i think, after all must be others out there who dont meet in clubs, not everyone uses the meet today option, but people do like to let others know when they are going to the club incase any of their friends are going

We know what you mean and where your coming from, weve noticed it to, However maybe you should delete CLUBS from your list of interests on your profile!

Many clubs have a pub nearby that regulars use as their club local. You could always suggest meeting there for a swift half before they go into the club. That way if there's no spark then, at most, it's cost a round of drinks.

Or make it clear that you only do club meets at certain clubs where you're already a member.

We all set our own rules for this game, and we are entitled to be as rigid as we like. If my insistence on a pre play coffee meet looses me playmates then that's my lookout.

Yes I agree, it's a lot easier to meet for a soft meet / coffee meet beforehand and I find it works very well.

It may suprise a lot of people on here but there are some of us "Single" chaps who do prefer to get to know prospective playmates beforehand. It works both ways and if you do play it makes things a lot easier.

Unfortunately a lot of social events and pre-planned parties are often held in clubs so it's not really an option. I've nothing against clubs as per se, I have been to several as part of a "couple" with a "borrowed" ladyfriend and as a chaperone so I can't say that I don't entirely dislike them, it's just that I don't like to go to them as a single bloke.

I paid £80 because that was what you had to pay to enter as explained, you couldn't just "pop in for 5 minutes" and they insisted on you being a member regardless.

As for being desperate/eager well again it was early in my FAB career and I did not want to appear a timewaster which is a charge so often levelled at single guys who agree to meet and then don't turn up (which may also involve expense for the couple too if the club is where they play). I didn't go to the club to join the club, I went to play with the couple because if I say I'll turn up I do, unlike many.

As for your final point abotut letting other people know they are going to a club, yes, I agree, but how many people do you know spend every day in the same club if they're not either staff, or friends of staff that's the point I was making. Those ads should be in the organised meets section not the "one off" meet today section
