So we have been on Fab before this profile, one of the reasons we left was because of the amount of fake profiles and having to work out weather others were genuinely the sex they state they were.

Does anyone else think that you shouldn’t be able to message or use the site until you have been photo verified by site admin? It would stop men pretending to be women and single males posing as a “couple” we report any that we see, such as a male profile but the name is “Gavin&Stacey”. If they were genuine why not set up a couples profile!?

I've got the message filter on for "must be verified". Some profiles with fake veris from other members still get through but is cuts a lot of the catfish out xx

Always a contentious subject. Some other “dating sites” don’t ask for verification.

I think you can tell quite easily by the tone and content of the messages. I think, only my opinion, men text in a different way to woman.

That being said I have been caught out by a man pretending to be a woman so now I ask for a call within 24 hours of messaging with a video call to follow. They can call me and withhold their number and if it’s a couple then I want to see them both but talk to them as a couple so one isn’t being cajoled.

If people don’t want to call it doesn’t mean they are fake just means they don’t want to but for me it’s a “limit” I won’t move on

Sadly there are quite a lot of fake profile on here and time waster but don't give up there are a lot of genuine nice people on here too

The only problem with this is they could be verified by the persons “real” profile or by webcam which is easy enough to fake.

Unfortunately the site is full off fakes and we have seen on numerous occasions people's profiles who verified are actually fake... So yes fab verified the only way forward

I always suggest a video chat early on. Saves time dealing with chitchatters and those who arent who they claim to be and are just looking for wank fodder. If someone can't carve out 3 minutes for a quick video chat to say hi, then I'm not interested. There will always be people who find a way around site verifications and who pay for membership to get around filters, but a 2 minute video chat sorts everything out for me and is a wonderful filter (the fellas with wives at home etc).

Or people who only call when out dog walking or going to the shops. Never call from home and the same for video calls. What you hiding?

Yes it is quite amazing how many people claim not to have a phone with a camera on it or that it's "broken"

A video chat just saves me wasting any more time on them!

I think they have started making you have to photo verify your profile if you make a couples one - which I think is brilliant. You can't get past the initial stage of setting it up if you don't verify. Not sure if single guys and girls are the same though

If this is true then it’s great! Just what we think is the way forward. Needs to mandatory for all profiles on the site to photo verify before they can do anything.

Yup, for a couples profile it's a pic of you both holding a piece of paper with site address and profile name on it.

Both have to be clearly seen holding it. Our first one got knocked back just because you couldn't quite make out the wife was holding it as well.

Photo verified means nothing to be honest.

We were sent a photo from a “couple” that were fab photo verified where the name on the piece of paper was for a different profile.

Now maybe it was their old profile, maybe they changed their profile name. However, its easy these days to edit images.

You want to stop fakes you need to make it more of a pita to create accounts, such as needing to sign up with a mobile number, but that would make having couples and singles profiles difficult.

Fanger is could still easily slip through with fakes verifiying each other plus if u cant message untill your verified there would be no way to initially get verifed

Think it’s pretty easy to spot most fake profiles whatever fake means ,for us we look for profiles of people that want to meet not just talk

I think the filters help, so you can stop non filtered people from contacting you. I’m in agreement with others that ‘fakes’ will always find away around a site like this one. I personally don’t find it too difficult to meet the right people on the site (maybe the fakes don’t fancy me

) so could be lucky or the fakes are more interested in couples or single women.
