Fab name vs real name

Wondered how many fabsters have a “fab name” vs their real name

I guess - for my part - its started off as privacy - as have very low key persona

But I also realise its all because in real life - have pretty humdrum existence but in my fab life - I can have a totally different persona that comes with a fab name

Well I did once answer clearly when a workmate shouted out his daughters name Sophie instead of mine by accident as he wanted to get my attention across the workshop.....that was a very awkward moment!

When I signed up for Fab, it specified to choose a name that was not my own.

Seeing someone else write my fab username has just made me realise how daft it is. It’s just a combination of a shorter version of my first name, and the second part is the name of the artist I was listening to when I made the profile (Giorgio Moroder).

I guess it’s far too easy to shorten to ‘germ’ which doesn’t give the best impression!

I was given the tip of joining Fab years ago on my first trip to a club, while I was chatting to some very nice people. They said set up a profile but don't use my real name. I went for Luke because I am a lifelong Star Wars fan.

I also created a surname to go with it which I use in an e-mail account. The surname was that of the first girl I ever asked out, back when I was a teenager

When I ended up in the relationship I'm in now, my partner came with her own pseudonym - Hannah - which she used on another site.

I really am called Jon. However, this used to be a couple's profile and my partner in crime on here was called Surrinda so that's where the name came from. Oh yes. We were dead inventive! Haha.

She had to move abroad for family reasons (we're still in touch) so just been me the last 4 years or so but I can't think of a new name so haven't bothered changing it.

We use fab names too. We're fairly vanilla in our every day lives so Rob & Steph are the fun and sexy ones Very few people have made it to the real name stage with us.

As well as hiding identities, we find it's a lot easier reading a profile with male and female names instead of just initials.

Obviously Gemini Man is not my real name - but when I'm comfortable enough chatting to people they get to know the real one, I don't have an alternate name I use.

Although have been at group socials where it was easier to introduce myself as, and answer to, Gemini Man
