Turning 50! Should I fake my age??

Hey Fab Hive Mind

I’ve never faked my age, photos, or anything on here .. but I recently turned 50 and suddenly it’s very much harder to engage people in conversation. I’ve been on and off fab for maybe 8 years so I know the place very well. But are there people here who will take someone on their merits rather than the number on their profile?

Ultimately, should I change my age to a fake one, and to what?? All ideas please! Thank you!! Joe xx

Lie about something to improve your chances of getting sex? Never been done before , give it a try

Seriously though it's really easy to tell if someone has knocked off more than about a year and very difficult to maintain the untruth. Often during conversation a reference will be made to something that reveals your true age then you just look silly. Accept that you're growing older and the limitations it places in you as far as fab is concerned and concentrate on the people who will meet men of 50 and older.

Happy birthday

Age is just a number it's how you look act behave and perform.

We would prefer to meet some who is fit five fit smart confident

Some younger one can be not in shape immature who only think of their own pleasure. So look and behaviour is more important that age for us .

Once upon time, I had an incorrect age on my profile. There were reasons for that, but in the end I decided that the real age was best.

It was a lot easier than hiding my my profile, and instantly you will discover that 50 is the cut off for a huge amount of people on here. If those people are not interested in a 50+ person, trying to get their attention by lying isn't a sensible or productive move.

So, you're now playing in a more exclusive / limited club. Concentrating on those who are seeking / are happy with / like a guy who is 50+ while be far more rewarding and more likely to be successful.

Yes, you can probably knock a year or two off and carry it off. I've met ladies who could comfortably knock ten years off and get away with it, but honesty is the best policy, and you will feel a lot better for it in the long run.

Just be yourself mate, and embrace your age. I have met two women from here, who purported they were 51, and they each turned out to be 60+ when we met face to face. I was not impressed to say the least.......

Point to note; the dates on photos on peoples profiles are the date the image was uploaded to the site, and not necessarily the date the pic was taken! Be wary of this......

We know people who are age liars. It's very common on here and we don't condone it. You are what you are. If you lie about your age, what other lies will you tell?

Although we have an age range set on here, if we talk to people in a club (obvs, pre covid) age doesn't come into it.

When the woman who invited me round to hers for a coffee opened her front door, and my first thought was “Is your daughter in?” I was gobsmacked! Being polite (and slightly dazed), I went inside, and realised that I had fallen in to her trap, like a fly stuck in a cobweb, and wondered how many blokes had succumbed to her ‘charms’, because sex was there, on a plate....... I drank my coffee as quick as I could, and thanked her for her time........

It’s the back of their hands, their décolletage, and the neck (where an Adam’s Apple would be on a bloke), which are the giveaways to their true age......

Don’t put a fake age, unless you want to watch every woman that turns up for a social, turn around and walk back out. As I did when I arrived for a social to find the man sitting there was at least 5 years older than his age on here, and 10 years older than his photos. (I did go back in, after spending several minutes bracing myself, just to be polite. But there was no way I was willing to meet him after that.)

If you genuinely look younger then adjust it. I've met people who are late 20's that looked closer to 40 and vice versa, ladies in their 50's that could get away with 30's. If you've looked after yourself and I do realise much of this is genetic and some people just age quicker and can't help it, then put the age you look. This isn't the battleground to fight ageism as it's hard enough for guys to get meets as it is.

We met a couple, we were a little unsure whether to meet because of their age but both looked in great shape, sports people looking amazing for their age. When we met and got chatting the chemistry was strong and they admitted they lied about their ages on fab, quite significantly, as they don’t want to meet people there own age and they have very high sex drives and stamina. We were shocked but really liked them and had some memorable meets , among the best, but if we had known thier ages when messaging..... no way would we have met. Most people simply are ageist including us.

So if you are good for your age and aiming younger , do it to get messaging , there’s worse crimes, most people we’ve met admit to but not soon enough, tell them very early, don’t get to intimacy or feelings on a lie.

My logic is that upper range is probably an absolute “that’s too old” in their head and they’re probably only really interested in 5-10 years below that.

It’s an exceptional upper limit, so they’re definitely not interested.

Don’t overthink it. Just take it as it comes.

I’m actually not sure how old I look. I suppose it depends massively on what you’re here for. If you’re here “playing a role” of someone just wanting sex, then pretend to be 21 and wear a mask.

If you’re here genuinely looking for likemindedly sexy souls, and you’re being yourself, then be your age, I guess.

I’m genuinely regarding myself in the latter category! Xx

A couple of years off might work but in reality, we get a lot of guys saying they’re “48 and a few months”.

Then they send you a pic of Grandad Trotter and you think fucking hell, how many months? 240?

On the flip side we see guys in their mid 60s who look 40.

It’s your choice but it has to be believable.

I honestly believe for everyone not looking for someone of a particular age there's someone else who is.

We're both passed the 'dreaded' 50 and when we played as a couple found the interest did reduce, but those who did engage tended to be more serious about the lifestyle if that makes sense.

We don't fake our ages and seem to do ok with our fun times with others, state your age and be proud you have made it that far.

OP don't fake your age i'm 59 pushing 60 told i look much younger for my years. As one poster has said when at clubs or at a party something will crop up in a conversation which will back fire on you. I've always been up front about my age if asked which i think is the best policy, and had some great fun.

In a trust-based community it's far better to be honest from the start. A month here and there isn't a problem - never use your exact birthdate as it's a dead giveaway to your unsuspecting wife/husband, and a gift to phishers. But as I've "matured" past 60 I've been surprised how many youngsters have become interested
