Bit of a delicate subject- after a period of time, has anyone found some soft toys- as opposed to the harder plastic (or whatever they are made of) ones, to cause real tissue reaction, like a burning sensation? Definitely an itch that wasn't scratchable Actually, more of an actual pain!!! And wasn't just me that had the reaction so not an individual allergy thing

Yes. I had a soft toy that caused a tissue reaction. I took my old teddy bear, which had been in the family for years, to the Antiques Roadshow and when the ponsy twat told me it was worth fuck all I cried my fucking eyes out!

Yes I've had this trouble with a latex toy.Was really burning and painful. I started putting latex free condoms on it and was fine. So I've stopped buying any toy that's not latex free. I assume it's a reaction to the latex as I've been fine since.

as for the burning sensation some natural yoghurt helps or a cooling bath

i always put condoms over my toys so cant say ive ever noticed this, i have no idea why i do that its just something i have always done. maybe if you try that it will stop the burning

There is no regulation for sex toys, and as people are unlikely to complain in public, the manufacturers can get away with anything. So nasty stuff in sex toys is quite common.

Reaction to latex is common enough for them to invent latex free condoms and those purple gloves. It only happens to certain people who are sensitive to it.

Some of those 'jelly' toys are made from a whole mix of chemicals, if you get a toy out the packet and it smells of new car, then it will be made from some synthetic stuff and have have volatile chemicals added to make it softer, and some of them can be nasty.

Silicone is the best, it's very inert and there is medical grade silicone which is tested safe. Whether anyone actually checks the silicone is sex toys really is medical grade I don't know, but I think most silicone is better than the other stuff anyway. Only drawback is, the price is quite a lot higher.

good advice there.. most sex toys can still carry sti's and other infestations and chemicals even when they are cleaned, especially if they are the soft type.

Use protection on sex toys too, even if it's just yourself.

It sounds like you've developed a latex allergy so I would advise that you don't use it, or if you must, and needs must of course, a good toy is a good friend, then stick a latex free condom over the top.

After use whilst cleaning the latex toy, don't rub your eyes, I know it sounds daft but problrms with eyes caused by latex intolerance is very nasty indeed.

Maybe see your doctor if you are experiencing burning sensations, just say it was from condoms rather than a toy if that's easier

I had that with a soft toy once, I am not allergic tO latex either but the toy made my muff sting like a bitch, wore of after a few mins but was unpleasant and not using it again!!!

Thanks all. Can see hormonal changes might make a difference but some kind man mailed me to say the baby oil was a mineral oil and would cause the latex/soft plastic to denature and so cause the burning feeling. I tell you- beware baby oil! Nearly was sick with the pain! Toy and oil are in the bin. Just need shop for something else xx
