If a guy doesn't shave or wear make up/wig but wears womens clothes can he call himself a TV or is he a crossdresser? or does it not matter at all? Just curious what people think.

I've always believed them to be interchangeable terms. Simply referring to someone who wears clothing associated with the opposite sex. Whether they wear makeup or shave etc doesn't really matter in terms of definition.

Crossdressing is just that, dressing in the style of the opposite gender. So both Men and Women can do it.

Transvestism is more about the desire and wanting to act as the opposite sex. Yet again both genders can do it, just more prevalent with Men dressing as Women, these days.

The shaving of body hair, wigs and makeup are also to enhance the illusion, that you’re seeing a woman rather than a Man. So you can be a TV with a beard or body hair, but if you’re aiming to create the illusion part, that would be difficult and not convincing as looking like a woman which for the majority of tgirls, is the ultimate aim.

This is my opinion, others may disagree

I've always considered myself as a CD rather than a TV due to the not being smooth or convincing and the mainly sexual thrill it gives me. Having said that the point made about the desire to project a feminine image is certainly food for thought for my own definitions.

So I guess like many things, the terms ultimately have different parameters for different people

I have always used the terms interchangeably, which may or may not be correct. I just know that I have been turned on by many T women, however one categorises them. I prefer to see the person first rather than any label. And if people are enjoying themselves and are comfortable with who they are and what they like then that’s the main thing. x

I think so many have different reasons for dressing.

Many do it as a turn on. I.e. wearing an item of clothing turns them on.

For me I wear clothes I want to look the way I want which is often considered more feminine. I regularly present as a what people will see as male or camp male but I have long acrylic nails, a face of makeup, maybe a heel.

To me CD is dressing for the kick of dressing

TV is striving to look completely feminine

TG someone who identifies as a different gender than at birth

I don’t personally like any of these labels for myself, but these are all fab offer so are best fit.

As far as I'm aware (feel free to correct me) Transvestite and CD are the same thing.

Vestite comes from the Latin for clothing. Trans is obviously self explanatory.

A lot of people put a spin on it that the difference has to do with feminity, I think that's a load of nonsense.

Tend to agree but some people (as is their right) get quite set on the difference between TV and Cd.

For me, I've tended to call myself a CD - I've found this often better manages expectations of what I'm more likely to be like..... But I don't really care!!!! I've been called or sorts of things (good or bad!)

I have heard someone said that CD is someone who gets sexual pleasure out of wearing women's dress.

I called myself CD but that is definitely not the reason as I don't get sexual kicks out of it. I just want to fulfil the other side of my desire of being a female.

When I first create my profile in 2012, I don't want to call myself TV because I don't want to offend others as I don't look feminine or good enough (as someone mentioned above) and because I don't do it full time (due to religion, culture, work and family issues).

I don't want to care what category am I anymore. I am just proud to be in the TV/TS group (not F, M, FF, MF or MM) and people can judge from my profile/pics to meet me or not.
