It's like shorthand. It's easier to use a label, then follow with a broader explanation if needed.

Take the labels off the tins and you could end up with peaches when you wanted sardines.

Trouble is the labels change very quickly these days as people try to find/have some control over their identity/sexuality and it’s meaning to them.

Basically I have been involved in and respected all parts of the sexual spectrum since a teen and find labels unhelpful as it’s the person that counts and we are all different and we all have our own small print
