Do muscular men intimidate girls

Are girls put off if a guy is too well built? Does it create a negitive self projection which exacerbates inner self confidence issues? Or are some girls just into it and others aren't?

I think its the latter mate. In my experience some girls love muscles, some hate them. I'd say the majority of younger ladies like them, but a lot of the older ladies prefer a guy to be a little softer and more spread out. Not because they are intimidated as older ladies tend to be more confident, but probably because toned muscular bodies tend to look too young and therefore child-like in their eyes. Especially when they have grown-up children themselves.

I prefer my guys to be athletic and slender rather than bulky and muscular. However I wouldn't chuck someone out of bed for having a six-pack.

The fitter they are, the less likely I am to tire them out.

I like lean, I like toned, I like athletic, I don't mind a nice set of guns, with or without a six pack.... but when they look like they are about to turn green and their shirt rip off, well they may as well be fat. It's the weight of them I find limiting in the ol' position stakes.

In my opinion it all depends on the person. I wouldn't say I'm intimidated by muscle but being a bigger girl I do sometimes think that the said person really looks after themselves so would probably be looking for someone equally as fit, so I rarely initiate contact mainly on that basis!! However, if I get a message from them that indicates they have read my profile and know what to expect then I'm happy to chat! Im definitely not impressed by muscle and hate it when guys automatically think that just because they have a hot body that women are gonna be falling at their feet! I'm much more likely to go for someone with a great personality and sense of humour x

I dislike vanity, so a six-pack that suggests a man spends 18 hous a day in the gym is unlikely to turn me on. I know other women love it, though, so please ignore a bitter old woman...

They shouldn't Madam. You appear to have gorgeously smooth skin and lovely curves. Indeed, were a man to run his tongue appreciatively over every inch of your body, would you then believe he found you desirable?....

I've dated guys that have been very muscular and guys that haven't.. but the last guy that I was with who was built like that built up while I was with him as I can honestly say if he had been like that before we met, I'd not have got with him as its not something on its own that attracts me.

I like defined or well looked after not overly muscled.

I am not intimidated by muscular men, I don't put too much precedent on it as its something I'm not bothered about one way or the other. It doesn't make me feel less confident about my own body, I know I'm not fit or muscular, and I'm not gonna do anything anytime soon to change that either.

Though I'd have to say that those bodybuilder blokes look terrible, that's a turn off for me, oo no its unnattractive in my opinion, but I actually have never met a guy built to those proportions

I think the general consensus is that women are not intimidated by muscles and that toned/athletic seems to be prefered to overly muscular.

It also appears that some women feel that guys with muscular bodies are in love with themselves which is a turn off.

If the guys with six-packs can convince the females that they do have a personality then they should be doing ok for meets

Interesting replies over all, I think I can Safely say that there is a wide spectrum of diverse opinions, all which seem to stem from personal experiences and confidence levels. I think I wholeheartedly agree that a tangible brain, personality and sense of humour really carry a great ammount of weight (no pun intended ) and I'm some cases a muscular body can be the icing on top of a complete package (of course only for some personal preferences :P) please believe me when I say arrogance and vanity is a turn off for everyone, including guys! pretension is just something that no body wants to deal with! Thanks for all your comments guys!

I got into rugby and fell in love with it very young. I was always tall at 6'2 and when I left school I continued with the rugby and training, that with a huge love of food and an extremely physical job I naturally turned into a big fit toned lad. I can honestly say wherever I went in uk and Ireland there is hardly a place I've been and not been the biggest lad in the room. Not fat at all I have a slim waist but have a very broad natural muscular chest back shoulders and chest, and legs...NOW saying all that my experience is it turns off or intimidates as much as 98 percent if women. If your out drinkIng you can bump that up to 99 percent. From personal experience only of course. Hardly any women would ever of bothered to find out about my mind or my personality they all went on 1st impression.... I got an injury and stopped my rugby career and now cycle as my sport, I carry about 3 stone less now, muscle is heavy, I'm older obviously, my chest arms etc carry much less, I think 4 inches off chest and 2 off arms and it makes a huge difference. Women TALK to me now so much that I'm leaner, don't feel intimidated, even though I'm still tall etc etc so my answer is in my opinion 100 percent is if your a big muscled lad you will scare the girls off....

Great post, spot on, my fiance is 6ft 2, 22 stone strongman, probably the biggest man most people would ever meet in the flesh and in a way I am glad women don't fancy him because he is so big as it means I am more scure, but it does get to him a bit that so few poeple can see past the body and to the person. He's a post grad, tremendous dad, lovely man, gentle, just chose to make himself really strong. There is a strange discrimination in sense that it is perfectly acceptable to be obese and call yourself BBW with pride, but to be muscular is to be just a 'meat head'. Crazy world

And issue of steroids being cheating...well, go to a powerlifting gym and ask me whether its the steroids that make people super strong or those in conjunction with training far beyond the intensity of a so called 'drug free' person, who will usually be spending hundreds of pounds on creatine and other supplements, so are hardly usinng milk and honey

I also think what people consider muscular differs person to person. I personally equate being muscular with someone you can tell is muscular whilst wearing clothes, rather than looks skinny in a t shirt but has 18 abs when they take it off, that is not muscular in my book.

I will agree there is a varying degree of muscularity, I guess that's down to genetics and the type of training undertaken, of course a bodybuilder will look different to a triathlete, but both with exhibit a muscular physique. Preference again I suppose.

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

By (user no longer on site)

No, a triathlete really is not muscular, well some are but they tend to be strong swimmers but poor bikers and runner due to moving bodyweight. I agree you could be a recreational triathlete and carry serious muscle, but you couldn't be an elite level triathlete.

Muscular vs. Muscled I suppose, can be very lean with great striations but weight 9 stone. I look at it like this, if a man can lift me on and off his cock whilst I ride him using only his arms then he is muscular

Real world muscle lol. I would say this to women mind, if muscles are not your thing then you are missing out. The opposites attract between a big man and a woman is a great feeling. Feeling tiny whilst being fucked is awesome confidence booster. Way too many cpls and women are looking for VWE VVWE etc, focusing on the first however many inches and ignoring the rest, which just seems silly to me.

I like a well muscled man, to me it shows dedication and the ability to work hard at something, bodybuilders outside of competition are awesome, stripped they look kinda off putting but again, their dedication totally impresses me and generally have a sharp mind to go along with the build..as well as that i know they can throw me about the bedroom like a blouse in the wind lolol

One of the most ridiculous comments on FAB and I have seen a lot of stupid comments.

Tones and muscular = childlike?

Ok because there are so few men past 30 years of age who know or want to look after themselves, those who do are labelled child-like in look?

Google Arnold, Brian Shaw or any Olympic weightlifter and I think your tune will change.

He's a post grad, tremendous dad, lovely man, gentle, just chose to make himself really strong. There is a strange discrimination in sense that it is perfectly acceptable to be obese and call yourself BBW with pride, but to be muscular is to be just a 'meat head'. Crazy world

And issue of steroids being cheating...well, go to a powerlifting gym and ask me whether its the steroids that make people super strong or those in conjunction with training far beyond the intensity of a so called 'drug free' person, who will usually be spending hundreds of pounds on creatine and other supplements, so are hardly usinng milk and honey"

I think steroids in gyms is a massive myth and even when they are used its a myth they are overly dangerous for you , I've never used any type but I've seen the documentary Bigger,Stronger , Faster and it's fascinating and eye opening when you hear the truth about them and the facts about them and how they are less harmful than most the pills and medicines doctors readily supply to us .

Obviously if you go mad with them and over prescribe and use them, they are going to do you major damage .

If memeory serves and I stand to be corrected , the total deaths in America from steroids the year the movie was made (2000 and something) was 5 or something like that and deaths from paracetamol was hundreds.

The main problem with steroids is people always want to be bigger, stronger , faster so the take a step further and further and that's when the dangers happen .

It's a great documentary

You could, but it does leave other bits in easy reach when you piss me off by leaning on me... "

I'm coming to Sheffield this sept but I wouldn't piss you off.

My mum taught me well in the ways in which women can use their nails to get their point across.

I don't want to go anywhere near a woman and piss her off when I am naked!

" but probably because toned muscular bodies tend to look too young and therefore child-like in their eyes.

One of the most ridiculous comments on FAB and I have seen a lot of stupid comments.

Tones and muscular = childlike?

Ok because there are so few men past 30 years of age who know or want to look after themselves, those who do are labelled child-like in look?

Google Arnold, Brian Shaw or any Olympic weightlifter and I think your tune will change."

I'm afraid you're the one whose comment looks nothing short of stupid mate.

For a start why would I state 30 was the cut-off age for a man to be in his prime? I didn't. You just made that bit up to suit your rather silly attempt at a correction. I'm 35 and I can categorically state my body in my early 30s was better than in my early 20s. But I think it very likely that my body at 60 won't be quite as fast or strong despite my intentions to throw my wight-lifting regimen into overdrive once I retire from the annoying habit of work.

I can't deny that the odd exception to the rule turns up who is in better shape at 50 than he was at 30, but I feel that will be down to hin totally changing his living plan around to what it was before. But I'm also referring to men in general. On average, who is in better shape, a man in his early 30s or a man in his mid-50s? If you're stuck perhaps you should ask a qualified doctor...

And let's look at examples you have given shall we? When was Arnie in better shape physically in terms of ability and tone? When he won Mr Universe? Or now? Anyone would be able to give an example of a man of senior years in great shape, its hardly challenging. And I repect the said examples for holding their bodies the way they have. But to be honest most were probably in better shape when younger, unless they started or upped their training later in life.

Can you please think things through before trying to shoot my post down in flames by referring to it as "one of the most ridiculous you have ever heard". Otherwise you succeed in nothing but making yourself look a fool.

You waffle on about something completely irrelevant to what i stated.

Don't skip the part where you said how men with tone and muscle look child like in appearance.

LOL!

Its like arguing with a brick wall on these forums so re-read what you typed and read what I typed several times more. You'll probably get the point.

This is what you typed;

"but probably because toned muscular bodies tend to look too young and therefore child-like in their eyes."

Dont try and add to it saying "oh but I meant younger guys" because nowhere in your post does it say so.

And because of that they do nothing for me either but there's no denying they fill most places they appear with screaming, dripping women.

My preferences were the bodybuilder, strongman types I mixed with when I was competing myself.

But that doesn't mean my taste in men isn't diverse. T

As much as 6 packs are nice to look at.

I've had rubbish experiences with guys that are in the gym alot of the time, more into themselfs and not very giving in the bedroom.

So tend not to bother with them.

But I do like a fit, tonned guy! Its my preference.

"In my opinion it all depends on the person. I'm much more likely to go for someone with a great personality and sense of humour x "

Totally agree I thought it was just me

I wasn't adding to anything to my statement. I was merely stating, with explanation, that the arguments you gave fell flat, to wit, your examples and your outlandish statement that I thought men over 30 could not possess toned bodies.

However, please allow me to exemplify my point. A woman of age say 50 would on average have a child who is perhaps in their mid-twenties. I am fully aware that this age range may differ wildly, but I am working to averages, which for assumptions of majority is usually straightforward enough. Now a woman with a child of that age will always retain a maternal protective instinct for their offspring and view them as "child-like" to some extent.

Now the human mind works in most visual assumptions upon a series of triggers, that cause the person to make judgements, illogical or otherwise, based upon resemblances to images they have previously stored. For example a woman who has been in an abusive relationship with a man with a beard may feel uneasy in company with a similarly hirsuite chap. Illogical, but part of the in-built mechanism we all possess.

Now to clarify my argument, a woman with a son in his mid-twenties will associate to some degree features common with him, such as a defined torso, unlined face, etc with that of a child, compared to current partners who are older and therefore have bodies and features that back this up.

Now is a person of 25 a child? No. But will they stir up maternal feelings in a woman with a son that age and cause her to think of child-like connotations? Quite likely. As I stated "younger and therefore child-like" which to a lot of women that age, they are. Not all, some have overcome this series of mental triggers, and some of course don't have children. But again, I'm working with majorities here.

Perhaps partly my fault that you didn't understand my point fully as I didn't take it apart in depth like this in the first instance due to time constraints and feeling that folk hardly needed to have it dissected so thoroughly. But all the same, I think you were also a little too quick to jump on a comment made and try unsuccessfully to tear it up and belittle it. Perhaps you should think more beforehand when you next attempt to ridicule another poster?

"I got into rugby and fell in love with it very young. Love that documentary, Chris Bell did a great service making it. My fiance does use steroids, but they have only made him fitter, stronger, hornier and in bgetter shape, hence why they are prescribed to the over 40s in America who are overweight, have bone problems or are just tired etc. x
