Absolutely this. It is far more complex with far more permutations.

While labels can be seen as restrictive they are also helpful for managing expectations.

In our relationship the male is straight and female is bi. That means we won’t be doing any kind of male-on-male activity. Not because we think there is anything wrong with it but because we do not find it a turn on. Similarly we would prefer to meet cpls with bi females because we do both enjoy that. The label helps spell that out so nobody has the wrong expectations or wastes their time.

People are free to do what they want and enjoy themselves (as long as consensual) but that includes being clear who you would rather not have sex with or specific acts.
