'Profile Above' Threads - What's the point...

I know they're only supposed to be a bit of fun, but what's the point of the various 'Profile Above' threads when - and it's usually single guys - people skip the actual 'Profile Above' to comment on whichever one they feel like?

Saw one earlier where a guy ignored the entire thread's 80+ comments to make his on the very first poster - normally it's only a few, but that's surely got to be a record!
