What’s your view on winking?

Personally I think it’s a great idea to show some initial interest and see if there’s any in return! Call it a little smile across the bar. I’ll nearly always wink first before sending a message to see if i get a wink back. Saves typing a message out which goes unread list in the inbox 80% of the time!

100% agree ! Can't really understand people that are offended by a wink ? I don't consider it lazy at all, as you said, just a polite, acknowledgement that your profile had been noticed and liked ! I always thank people for a wink and ask if they would like to chat ? Then things either progress or not ?

I like winks. I prefer someone has made a bit of effort on their profile rather than a long cut and paste message.

I mostly have my message filters on, but if I like the look of a profile then I can wink at them. The ball is then in their court.

We’ve had meets that have started with a wink, if we’re interested we’ll wink back. Worse is a pasted message.

Exactly. I’ll also happily send face pics in a message to someone I get a wink from providing they’re what I’m looking for, verified and have photos themselves

I start nearly every single conversation after a wink or mutual wink. Like previously said it’s a good way to acknowledge you like the look of the profile and may be interested and if you receive one back I tend to follow up with a message

It's not really like a smile across a bar because you can't see who's winking, so we tend to ignore.

I used to ignore them and ask people to message instead as I much prefer PMs. But loads of people still winked anyway so I do check them every so often. Most get deleted though xx

I like a wink. It’s a way for me to say ‘hey, i might be interested in you, what do you think’

When someone winks I think it’s them saying the same. I’ll usually click on the profile and see if they’re into the same stuff, and it’s a way of breaking the ice. Potentially a way of saving having to write a message to say ‘I’m interested’

I can understand why women don’t have time for them with the amount of messages they receive but I do think they’re a good way to test the water.

Some women forget that a lot of men put a good amount of time into a good message only for them to get no reply at all, so a wink is a good way to see if there’s any mutual attraction which can be followed up with a more detailed message - that’s how I see them, anyway.

I used to think just winking was lazy but I’ve spent so long typing out different styles of messages only for them to be left “unread”

It’s got to the point where the chance of a wink back is as likely as a reply to a message. Both very unlikely. I’ve excepted my role as forum contributor and pic fabber

We are regularly told how women on this site have hundreds/thousands of messages, far too many to handle, to the point that do not have the time to be polite and reply to every single message. Therefore I feel winks are a ‘non time consuming’ way to show an interest.

We got sick of replying to a wink with a nice message to get no reply. That happened 90% of the time. We don't even look at them now. It does say this on our profile, a message is best we say. If people wink us it just shows the lazy people couldn't even be bothered to read our profile. Why would we even want to meet folk who just can't put in the effort to read our profile. So it doesn't work for us but everyone has their own way on here so if it works for you wink away at folk but read profiles first as that's where a great encounter could start, not with the wink

I like the idea of winks but as few women have stated now on the post they mass delete them. It’s a catch 22 position to be fair, you can take your time to send a message and see it unread or deleted. Obviously some women get loads of messages a day so mass delete them as well. Think lots of guys will have had that over the years so sometimes a cheeky wink can work
