A general question posted out of interest. When I send mails they often get deleted with no reply others of course reply and sometimes you get a message read and not replied to but the message is also not deleted. Does this mean do you think it is of possible interest and is being kept for maybe later - or is it just a system glitch. ?

Lol. I wouldn't hold your breath mate, could just mean they 'opened' your message, read first few words and pressed the goto next unread message button.

Having your message sit in somebody else's inbox, could just mean they are too lazy to delete.

I often read mail, and dont reply straight away...

By the time I get to reply I can often have a full page of newer messages which bumps the earlier message off the page so I cant reply or delete it until I get through all the newer ones...

I find it odd that some ladies suggest they will reply later when we all know after 10 mins their in box will have over flowed the message gone and you forgotten , what amazes me is bright ladies who do want to chat do this they loose your message forget then one has to guess .does she hate me or has she been swamped again . As a guy who does not want to message a woman many times this is a fine art . I think a thanks no thanks button and a message me again sometime button may help

id say 3% possible interest and your message got lost or saved for a intended reply maybe, 97% chance wasnt interested enough to reply but hadnt deleted it

after all if you fancy the pants off someone who mails you and you want to meet then you probally would reply straight away when reading the message

A few interesting thoughts - I'm sure no of us guys hold our breath after sending a mail as we all know the % but you sometimes hope if you feel you match the profile you replying - the other point of course as someone also mentioned is after a few weeks do you send another mail if first one not been deleted - I tend to try once more.

Also would point out this was not intended as a bleeting thread more just out of interest which it has been

I can only speak for myself, but i'm far too busy to reply to every message I receive. I'm sometimes (as the last week) far too busy to even delete them all if I'm not interested. I tend to bulk delete every few weeks.

A second message sent a few weeks later tends to make me think they don't remember mailing me the first time, which is very bad form.

Which reminds me, I need to go into the suggestions forum as the mailbox is really time consuming to manage in it's present state.....

I would always refer to my original message with an aplology in advance if it had been a matter of just not getting around to delete original one

I personally think a repeat message isn't a problem as sometimes die to timing you might not see or remember the original message.

I find best thing works for me, is a few messages then mobile numbers. I can tell more in 2 mins of conversation than I can from two days if message ping pong.

Having never accumulated that many messages in my inbox, I wasn't aware that happened - like the OP, I've often had sent messages read and not deleted, hoped that meant there was interest and I'll get a reply, which then never comes....

It probably also explains completely unread messages....
