I have a set of Van Buren sounds, a ribbed sound and a silicone e-stim sound. I find all of them pleasurable but the e-stim one is the most intense especially as it is designed so that it is insulated down most of the shaft with only an active zone at the end which really concentrates the stimulation into a relatively small area.

Ive used a ribbed silicone sound about 12cm long, feels good specially while being stroked. I kept it in for work one day, and it made me so horny, plus caused a little bit of precum leakage!

Ive also tried a 35cm stainless steel ball sound, felt incredible being used,

And just the sight of it dropping so deep made for the horniest sight ever! Shame it didnt turn out to be fully stainless steel and i had to ditch it after one use! Never quite achieved the hands free prostate climax i would have liked, but i think it could given more 'practice'

Are they something that you leave in? I don't know much about them, but assumed that they were something that you enjoyed by putting them in/out?

You can get some that stay in, with loops to hold them in place, i have a hollow one for this, but never wore it for too long, its heavy and i need to get more comfortable with it.

The shorter silicone one i left in is fine for it too, and gives some nice sensations as you move / sit etc, as it can just about reach where needed.

You can use them for penetrative style too i guess, it does feel good!

I have 3 sets of sounding rods, 1 set thats just smooth tempered glass, 1 set that is spiraled tempered glass and a metal set,

All of which give a slightly different sensation. I prefer my metal ones as gravity works better on them.
