Letting someone go....

I am sure others have been in similar situations and had to say goodbye to someone here, let them go, or remove them as a friend for whatever reason.

But what is the best way to go about it?

I have found being polite, honest and exact in my reasoning hasn't always been the way to go, neither has just the delete/block option.

Have you been on the receiving end of both approaches, and how did that make you feel?

If you can be tactful but honest then I think that's the best way to go. I've been given white lies before or half-truths and I think that makes things worse. When something doesn't quite add up then it feels disrespectful, perhaps manipulative as well, and ghosting someone is cold and dismissive in addition to being disrespectful.

Having said that, if you've kindly given them an honest reason and they don't have the emotional maturity to handle it then it's not your problem anymore and I'd say blocking them is fine at that point.

I just tell them I’m taking a break from the lifestyle or I met someone in vanilla life that I want to see how things go.....

Good advice. I’d say karma is great and if you know you’ve done it the right way and been honest, then it’s down to them how they respond. If you were planning on walking away from them anyway, then you’ve lost nothing other than someone without the ability to behave like an adult.
