What would you do if you met someone and they didn’t look like their photos?

Maybe they’d been filtered, or were years old. How do you handle that?

Happened several times. We all like to put up our best photos yet some purposely mislead others. One couple we both met did just that, he looked something like his yet she looked NOTHING like hers and very much not in a good way either !@. Her photos must have been a good 20 years or so old. We met for a social at their home so even more awkward. We just gave each other that look and announced they were not for us, still they wouldn't give up !. We soon walked away

Another couple wanted to meet in a local supermarket cafe. Luckily we hadnt shared face pics and we found them in one of the isles. I won't go into detail but we were sickened by what we saw and walked straight out. Blocked immediately. We're very well mannered (to a fault) yet didn't feel bad about blocking those two utter liars !

Walk away, that’s why we tend to meet in clubs, if your planned meet doesn’t look like their pics you have other options

We saw a Lady off the forums in a club (not a meet). In her pics she looks cartoon like, in real life she looked very different. You’d be disappointed.

Yes that's happened to us. A guy who turned out to be a lot older than his photos. Honesty is important to us so that was his first and last meeting with us and it was incredibly brief and disappointing for him. Swift exit

Good idea for most people. I’m overly polite and self conscious, so meeting in a coffee shop would make the scenario ten times worse for me (It’s been a nightmare each time I’ve tried it).

But you’re right - maybe a public meet somewhere outside would be good. A park or city square.

Yeah that’s the issue for me too. The dishonesty. There’s also a degree of manipulation and pressure that’s put on you in that situation - it really makes my blood boil

We’d stay for a drink and then make our excuses...we edit our photos to make them more fun but never change our appearance and they’re never more than a few months old at most so would expect the same.

I walked away. He was 6inches shorter and much older than his pics. I did apologise but could not stay. He had lied and i was cross.

Plus even if the person looks like their photo we might not get on in person.

I met someone for a walk, he looked nothing like his pics, and he looked older than he said.

I had to walk the dog anyway so we went for a quick march round the block and then I made a sharp exit

That is why we like the club and party scene.

Depends.

We're all trying to make a good impressions aren't we and everyone is guilty of being selective about some aspects of themselves.

If it is plainly a different person to the photo and that person is significantly less attractive for whatever reason then its game over - That's just straight forward deception.

If it is the same person but perhaps older or heavier/lighter depending on your expectations and preferences then perhaps allow the benefit of the doubt.

Who knows, after all you might just click and end up having a wonderful time.

It's possible that they also don't see you as the person in your photo either, so within limits I think it is best to allow some 'margin for error'.

I have both walked away before any contact took place and also seen it through and had a great time in the past...

I suppose it depends on your mood at the time and how far removed from how you expected that person to look they actually are.

You will notice a lot of people re upload the same pics from 3 years ago.

When we 1st joined fab we arranged a meet after a long conversation then noticed he had not uploaded a pic in years and straight away asked for a new one before the day of our meet but never got a reply....Dodged a bullet there

Depends on how far from their photo they looked. I think it’s only normal that people are going to put their best pictures here but if thy ey look completely different then you have to wonder what else they’re not telling you
