If there was a link between sex and good mental health and well-being then they probably would be.

On a more serious note sex releases hormones and endorphins which all helps our mood so the link is probably already there

No, I don't think it is. I lived without sex for many years (almost 20) in my adult life. What is vital is intimacy and loving touch as there are times in our lives when sex isn't or may become impossible for all sorts of reasons. In the end, whatever age you are, we still have the ability for intimacy and loving touch until we die.
