Its all a question of risk How on earth with simple ppe Aka comdoms have simple stds not died out is beyond me One year on no sex only sex wjth comdoms AND any. One could all have been shagging without fear of catching even hiv sadly there have always been and always will be the selfish the could not care less who fick up the planet for every one else

Firstly, not everyone wears a condom. One of the reasons that Aids hit the gap community so hard, was because condoms were not used... why would two blokes need contraception, neither of them can get pregnant. Aids really started the concept of condoms to prevent STIs.

Secondly though, there are other ways of contracting the disease. Obviously there is a known link to drug users sharing needles, but historically there have also been cases linked to blood transfusions and medical contamination, and even accidents.

Add to this the fact that the HIV virus can be in someone's system for years with no side effects, people can easily pass it on without ever knowing.

Some stis are spread by skin contact and condoms do not protect fully, oral sex and rimming also carry risk of transmission.

The simple answer.... just like with face masks and COVID..... Is that what ppl can't see they think they can't get!!

Many STIs don't show symptoms (chlamydia and gonorrhoea for example) in the majority of cases and so people don't know they have it.

People have this misconception still of 'clean'... how many times do ppl say 'I'm clean' rather than I am 'clear' of STIs

Likewise ... condoms only prevent some transmittion... they don't cover the skin around the genitals and so genital warts and herpes and pubic lice can spread.

Well there's PrEP now for HIV, but unfortunately the majority of guys on fabguys think this is an excuse for unprotected sex (as if HIV was the only STD anyway).

Despite most gay and bi guys using protection, there are a lot of guys of various ages still promoting the 'bareback' idea of being a fetish.

It leads to inner circles forming and essentially spreading whatever they've got between everyone and then it only takes just one of them to hook up with some other guy who's pressured into not using a condom to get infected.

And of course that guy might be bi and end up passing it onto the women.

Given the number of straight people i've seen trying to arrange covid-19 parties it doesn't surprise me in the least that people engage in unsafe sex with abandon.

If you can't sort out a trusted group, I really don't know what else to do. My experience in both the gay and straight scene has led me to find out that the number of people still uneducated about the needed attitudes toward precautions is lacking to say the least.

That kind of makes the fallout to all the people happy to play safe all the more worse.
