Hey good people of Fab!

Quick question for you; Can anyone explain to me the reasons why they choose to 'wink' at people on Fab instead of message?

Sure, it's to do with laziness

Because I personally think it’s easier than spending time composing a well thought out message only to be rejected. I have spent time and effort on my profile, shown that I am interested in theirs. If they like the look of my profile, they can wink back and then I can message.

Or maybe I am just lazy

We always wink, shows we’re interested without sending the same generic message, we love receiving winks

Wink shows interest but I always send a message initially and if I get a reply then I’ll wink too

Cuz I’m bone idle and messaging gets me no results, so it’s easier and saves a lot of my valuable time to get the same result... nothing

It used to be as a way of expressing interest without having to write a message..

No response generally means the recipient isn't interested...

But now ppl wink then message anyway so i have to ignore them on purpose

Ah okay, thanks for responding everyone.

I can totally see where you are coming from with regards to the expediancy of sending a wink over an initial message.

You might use the wink feature to gauge whether someone has a shared interest in you by seeing if you receive a wink back.

No wink returned = no message sent.

Must admit I have sent a message WITH a wink if I think I match whatever criteria a couple for instance might be looking for in that particular moment.

Confusing thing I have noticed recently is a few times when someone winks me, I wink back but then radio silence...

I wouldn't consider the onus to be on me to then message if I didn't send the firsr wink... or is it? HA!

Someone winked at me and it resulted in a great meet. It really can be worthwhile winking but if not then no harm done.x

We send winks, for us it’s less to do with laziness and more to do with the 18-99 age range many have & our own age disparity.

Send messages only to get back “Too old, whatever” So a quick wink, we’ll either get one back or we won’t & just occasionally a message.

We like a wink.

If we receive a wink back we will message.

If we receive a wink and we like, we wink back.

Like so many it’s hard to send that first message, it’s sometimes easier to refer to the wink when sending a message

Winks are lazy! If a man can’t be bothered to put together a well constructed message I reckon he would be lazy in bed! I delete all winks sent!

I don't see the harm in them and use them myself, some people get their knickers in a twist over them though, no idea why.

Shangri-la

I very rarely ever look at winks & I have never winked at anyone.

If I see a profile that captures my interest then I'll send a message.

A lot of people don't like them or check them.

But I think of them like your eyes meeting in a bar, you like the look of each other, but you haven't talked yet. Then message to see if you actually get on, which is the going over and starting a chat in the bar.

I think I understand winks.

Someone may not be sure that a well thought-out msg would be welcome. So, they send an initial 'hey,' as a wink.

We don't normally respond, but I get it.

I love the wink system personally. Would hate to take my time and compose a well thought of message only to look in your sent box and see deleted (ouch )
