I think - and please don’t shoot me down in flames !!

As a general rule - the average guy wants more sex or is more gregarious about his sexual wants than the average woman.

There are many women who are the exception and we see all of those on Fab here - but there are also a lot of women who don’t want a lot of sex and this leads to the imbalance we see.

Those women who are very sexually interested must be very frustrated if they don’t have good partners who encourage them to be happy

Men in their prime might be able to cum 6 times a day, and so potentially get 6 different women pregnant every day. They might be able to do this over a 60 year period. Not for us. I (the mrs) have an exceptionally high sex drive.

I think the difference between me and a lot of high sex drive men is I get a lot of active offers and so can choose who I’d like to sleep with. No need to go further (paying for it etc). Whereas a lot of men who feel the NEED to have sex have to make do with whatever lady responds to them, and if that doesn’t work then escorts can fill the void.

A lot of men have a harder time getting sex because most women get propositioned a lot more, so we almost always have the benefit of choice.

This is a really interesting post, I am guilty of being somewhat black and white on this However, I would be interested to hear your explanations for the facts that the OP makes: how do you explain the preponderance of female, not male, escorts? Or men traveling thousands of miles to places like Thailand to have lots of sex, but not women? These are modern day facts, not conjecture. If men and women, on average, had identical sex drives, and identical will to fulfill them with other people i.e. not by masturbating, wouldn't you expect the oldest profession to become the non-existent profession? This not meant to be inflammatory, or a personal attack on your views, I'm just interested to hear your explanations for things we observe that are completely objective.

Yes of course there are differences in sexual behaviour but whether these are innate and biological is very much up for debate

Some have argued that rather than differences bring biological, women have been ‘culturally caged’. Throughout history female sexuality has been repressed and of course that’s cultural rather than anything to do with physiology.

There was a paper that found that where there is greater male power, there is more suppression of female sexuality. In that paper the authors theorise that where women lack power and resources, they might use sex to gain resources. This is one theory anyway.

As for some of the behaviours the OP lists, travelling long distances, meeting strangers. These are potentially risky behaviours and the risks are greater for women. We also know that younger men are more likely to engage in potentially risky behaviours in general, so that might come into play too

This is exactly what I have been starting to think. If women are more selective, even with equal sex drive this will translate to less actual sex. That would then explain why there are far more female than male escorts ... All the guys who can't get selected, but still need sex, are forced to pay, so it's just supply and demand.

However, I do wonder about average sex drive given that women are only really fertile for perhaps 7 days per month (and plenty of women will says they feel much hornier at the fertile point in the cycle) But before I get panned, this is me speculating!
