I am having more and more problems with condoms. I seem to get either thrush or BV a couple of days or so after sex with one. I thought I was allergic to latex but wonder if it is lube that is put on them. Anyone else have this problem and what suggestions do you have? It's putting me off sex which is not good....

Who is providing the lube and condoms? The guys? If so, it could be harder to whittle it down to what's causing it - IF it is either of those - as there is a huge range of both condoms and lube, and it could be any combination which is causing your problems.

But the previous poster is right - go see your doc...

I have had problems previously.. and I still get occasional problems.. I think it was the lube on them too as I know I'm not allergic to latex as I can wear gloves, dresses etc. with no problem at all.

What I did was started washing with femfresh soap and using femfresh wipes as my sexual health doctor told me regular soaps and wet wipes can often have a negative effect on the good bacteria down there which can cause thrush and BV to occur... so I did that and everything was fine until I had sex with someone else other than my partner.. so I took the pills changed condom brands and its been much better since.. so either the brand I am using uses a better lubricant or something else in them has changed or its just a coincidence!

I go to the sexual health clinic regularly and have talked to the nurse. If I only have sex with my regular partner I have no problems at all but we don't use condoms.

ive never got thrush or anything like that but i cant use latex condoms as they make me so dry, then i get sore and in some cases have started bleeding

Try latex free condoms if that dont work try a new lube, tho i find i dont need lube with latex free condoms as they dont dry me out

Allergies of any time usually cause an anaphylactic shock response which give anything from local swellings and rashes to respiratory failure and cardiac arrest, so if it's on going its more likely to be a sensitivity to the latex or lube, change to latex free and see it that helps and then change the lube. One change at a time, though I have heard that certain lubes on latex condoms can be quite the irritant and that's no doubt the problem more than the latex

Hope that helps

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Latex free are reduced at Superdrug at the moment.

I gave up on lube as it seemed to cause irritation. I also found that getting men to wash their hands helped...

I use mates skyn and they have the same problem. I thought it was latex so changed, but I have been struggling with soreness all week now after last thursday. I suspect it may be the lube they use on the condoms. I don't know how to find a latex free lube free condom.

lucky you!! I've had more than my fair share of problems with loss of erections from men who hate condoms. or perhaps it's just me!

buy hypoallergenic condoms, which are both non-latex and also the lube is gentler. It is a common problem.
