Why do people lie on dating sites

I went on pof date after speaking on the phone for a week and she was thin tattooed and pierced in her pictures but when i went to pick her up, this women jumped into the car looking like she ate her last two dates.

She looked nothing like her picture.I could only identify her by her lip piercing.lol

Anyone one else got a funny dating story?

It won't just be women, just to put the record straight. Men are probably more guilty of that, using photos from 15+ years ago, before middle age started to spread. Then there are three people that use other people's pictures.....

I’ve been on dates and the man has turned up 10 years older with a bunch of wrinkles that weren’t there in the photos!

Or dated what I believed to be a single man only for him to have a wife.

There’s liars everywhere, you’ll find them on here, social media & dating sites. I don’t see the point in lying as you’re going to get caught out eventually. It must be embarrassing.

My first ever Internet date was like that... Username 'Sexy guy' fake photos and effective camera angles on cam. Turned up and my heart just sank. I asked my friend to call me up during the date so I could use her as an alibi to get out quick. My friend refused so i confessed to him he didn't look like his photos so no longer attracted to him.

Not much difference between POF and FAB, both sites have bloke's who seem to not know their age and definitely use old photos.

I actually find it amusing especially when they describe themselves as 'athletic' build when in reality they are far from it...quick no thanks message and I move on.

I think some wrongly view curvy as a certain dress size when it actually refers more to hip/waist ratio.

Over the years I have had a few men lie about age (usually knocking 10-15 years off, often to get around filters), appearance (they say they are "fit" or "althetic" when they are clearly not) and one lied about not being a smoker when he was.

I agree, no point in saying one thing in messaging and not be what you've described when meeting in person. Not sure if women do the same but a high percentage of men don't give the truth in regards to looks, height and age..

When I was younger I just assumed that women would look the same if I met them. However I learned that many dating app pictures are not a true representation of the person.

Personally I don't like to put pictures of myself looking good online, because I wouldn't like to disappoint someone if we ever met and also I think it would be embarrassing.

I think height and cock size are lied about the most on here. A few times I have seen guys saying they have 8 or 9 inches and I find myself double checking myself.

I’d disagree tbh. I’d say I’m 100% honest - even though it sometimes bites me in the arse! I mention every physical flaw on my profile but I temper that, hopefully, with evidence of a fun personality and veris that seem to believe that I’m not useless at the sex thing!

If I ever turned up to a meet and saw a look of disappointment on their face I’d be gutted.

Precisely why I edited my profile text relating to this a few months ago - people can put on a few pounds or shed a bit of hair between pics, but who shrinks 6 inches hehe (apart from Katie Hopkins, she can shrink any amount of inches by the mere sight of her)
