Well so long as you make an allowance for all the fireman to have a nap half way through you'll be ok (just a joke)

At least soldiers don't go on strike when they don't get their own way, covered enough times for the bloody fire brigade in the past.

If by not getting there own way you mean standing up for their rights and getting a decent pay for a very dangerous job and if covering means badly trained squaddies driving round in ageing green goddesses not being able to put out a bonfire then I would agree with you.

If you have passed out after training you are NOT a fireman. The term "fireman" became obsolete within the Fire Service in the 1980s when females were recruited into the Service.

Within the service the only terminology referred to would be "Firefighter" and that would be used by all.

If by claiming you are a "fireman" you hope to gain some kudos and get the ladies flocking to you, then at least refer to yourself correctly

I hope your contract doesnt have a clause regarding professional conduct or you may find advertising so often on a swinging site that your a fireman can be considered gross misconduct.

Hey, being a fireman is nothing. I graduate in a few weeks and I'll be a professional philosopher! Just need to grow a nice white beard now, to the miracle grow!!

well said !

To be fair the majority of people dont realise all the different things we do in our job.

Not to mention the lack of a pay rise the last four years and facing a hike in pension contributions over a hundred quid a month.

My Brigade lost recently lost two good fireman and the response from the local and not so local communities was astounding , tributes coming in from all over the world .

They died looking for casualties in a fire .

that could be you or your loved ones.

They both had young families, if any of you want to knock people for that then at least have some idea of what you are talking about .

Or you could of course just blindly believe what you read in the papers.

To the op , you should be proud of becoming a firefighter as its not easy but really not cool to boast about it in my opinion .

Same here, my father was a firefighter, at the same time my ex was in the forces driving one of those old green goddesses.
