"what about the military? firefighters? postal workers? bus drivers? police? loads of different people are still working with the general public and coming into contact with them. why are they ignored?" I agree. I am an NHS worker but we are just a small proportion of the people who are out there working.

"what about the military? firefighters? postal workers? bus drivers? police? loads of different people are still working with the general public and coming into contact with them. why are they ignored?" You are quite right Along with Supermarket workers, postmen, delivery drivers, suppliers of water, electricity, gas, fuel and many other key workers... but when you are under the province of covid 19 and fighting for your life which area of these worthy workers will you be relying upon?

"what about the military? firefighters? postal workers? bus drivers? police? loads of different people are still working with the general public and coming into contact with them. why are they ignored?" Your point is valid but give the guy a break, he's merely trying to express his appreciation for the heroic people that work across the NHS. I'm sure he, like everyone else, would agree with your comment. Stay safe and sensible everyone

"The responses are a bit frustrating and sadly typical. I never started a thread that stated that I would remember or revere all of the current key workers. I did not ask for those with unrelated views to comment and attempt to highlight what they consider to be my shortfalls on this, my thread. If you feel strongly about the Military or Postal workers then start a thread and have them identified in this way, but to criticise me for doing what good decent people are doing each Thursday night is somewhat disappointing. There are people out there deliberately flouting the lockdown and social distancing rules and when the consequences of their vile actions come to bear then the NHS will be expected to pick up the pieces. Do me a favour please, start a thread that applauds those you feel I failed to mention, I will support it, but someone will try to hijack the thread or accuse you of missing out bin men or someone similarly working at present... my aim is not to disregard any or to initiate a 'memory game' of key workers but purely to add to the overall sincere appreciation of the NHS workers.
