Would anybody be willing to teach me how to do my make up? I would be willing to pay for your time and materials.

Seconded, lots of tips on methods and styles on there. That should teach you the basics.

Then it's lots of trial and error to find what works for you.

Saying that I could be doing with some tuition myself to get mine looking a bit better close up, I'm so jealous of the experts

Like Abby I'd love a lady to show me the mysteries of applying good make up. As I live close to Abby perhaps there's a lady out there who could help us both at my place when the Corona lockdown is over. Maybe she would like to see us play afterwards

Honestly, experiment yourselves. I can never recreate what I'm shown and most women will know what works for them, which isn't what works for you.

Have you not got any female friends to show you?

I found that was the best way, they showed me and I have it semi-down now, the left side is slightly behind so I use my side fringe to help with that. Women tend to touch me up at meets though, Can't beat experience so don't be afraid to ask them for help

Generally, to be taught what techniques, colours etc are best for you, you need an experienced makeup artist rather than a random woman because however good we are at our own makeup, we’re not necessarily going to be able to work out what’s good for you and teach you how to do it.

I do agree with everyone who has recommended YouTube tutorials. I know it can be a bit overwhelming because there are so many, but it’s worth having a look to see what you like. Maybe narrow it down by what you want specific help on, like foundation or smoky eye or whatever.

Speaking for myself, I learnt through trial and error, books (in the pre-internet days), YouTube, and a couple of makeovers/makeup lessons with my favourite brand when they used to have a counter in my local Debenhams. At this point my skills are very good and I’ve been told there’s no noticeable difference when I do my makeup against when I have it done by a makeup artist, and I’ve got to that point through teaching myself. So it’s totally possible for you to get there too

My own experience I got really lucky with two people and YouTube... so I went to Boots (other stores selling make up are available) and had the most relaxing time talking with the assistant there who really assisted! You’ll know how to test the waters and it’ll take time but what they can do with colour matching and tutorials is amazing..

Then I went to club f for Tbirds night and a totally amazing person helped me out.. but that said I think at any club where thinks

Meet there’ll be some sharing of ideas..

Good luck and enjoy.. and don’t get disheartened.. even if you do do it 3 pints of cocktail in!! (Just me reminding myself now..)

... oh. One of the reasons I keep going to Mac.

Most counters, they'll accurately tell you what will look good on you. The Mac counters I've been to, they tell you *why*. Knowing how to figure it out yourself matters.
