Just wondering about the law on this. I came across someone that knows me and she said she had screened shots of my pics I dont want anyone to know where do I stand

This site is the internet though.... unfortunately there is not much that can be done to stop it. The laws are on what people then do with those pics such as revenge porn type stuff, Extortion, harassment etc.

Two points.

The first is that it is easy to copy someone's pics and spread them around so never post anything you are not happy with others seeing as in reality, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. No matter what disclaimer you may put on your profile, the pics are on a site that can be accessed worldwide, so are in the public domain already.

Secondly it could just be part of one of the many scams that are constantly circulating. If they ask for money in any form, just ignore them! If you don't have up to date anti-virus, update it, and run a scan anyway to be safe.

There’s not enough detail from OP to say anything further. Yes we all put pictures up, yes ultimately anyone could find them, but it would still be illegal to make threats etc over what she intends to do with them.

From what others have said on here and in the media generally, the police currently seem to take this sort of threat seriously and will “have words” with her if that’s what you want.

If the images are sexual and they are banded around to people you haven’t shared them with yourself then you are actually protected under the Revenge porn laws.

Yes you may have put them on here but you have chosen to share them with people that are members of a site. What you haven’t done is chosen to share them with everyone

Unfortunately most get away with it because of the nature of content complaining or reporting to the police fills most with dread. It is always worthwhile reminding the perpetrator of your legal rights to take matters further

I think what most people have said is true. Once out there it is difficult.

I think the trick is to avoid your face from appearing in any of the rude shots.

Anything with your face in it keep it vanilla.

So the vanilla shots well you could have got them from facebook etc.

The rudes ones you have deniability. Thats not me.

There's an option you can turn on in settings to prevent nonfab members from viewing your profile.

Anything you do online that is classed as public i.e. webcams, profiles, web pages, profile photos. Is on the internet forever. Because all it takes is screen shot and screen capture programmes. Even people have used their mobile to record video of cams.

Every pic you send someone has the potential to end up else where also. If you don't want that send them to no one ever. You can't trust people not to post them, just takes someone to be pissed off and they spitefully upload them. Proving the content is yours and getting them removed is extremely difficult.

There's stuff of mine floating around since I was 18 because I was on webcams. Nothing you can do about it when it's on every porn site.

You don't think those camsite clips are uploaded by owner do you? They wouldn't give them away for free it's screen capture programmes.

Don't want the world to know don't do anything online or share pics and vids

There's lots of collectors about they trade and upload on many sites.

Terms 9b and 10.7 of the site answer this question.

You cannot transmit another person's content if the intention is disruptive.

You shouldn't post content which you don't want to be misused.

There are UK laws which can extend this, but unfortunately because you've posted publicly, I wouldn't bank on there being any success in a court case.

yes bit difficult if you put pics here in public then people will screen shot thats how its always been since android phones came into circulation if you dont want them copied keep them private

Video chats are great way to chat to people face to face without actually being in close proximity. I do this with many people before meeting socially. If they start to make demands to do things on cam then I don't meet them. It's a great filter for figuring people out more before you meet them.

I like the chatrooms because you get to see how they behave with others. They could be nice as pie to you but an utter twunt with others. Pitfalls the same regardless. You send any pic or video to someone so it isn't blind meet has the same risks of a video call

I’ve been on the bad end of revenge porn. I had a guy threaten to expose me. We got close and it didn’t end the way he wanted so he decided the way to deal with it was to threaten to ruin my life. This is why I’m careful who sees my face and I remove all identifying features (tattoos etc) from public pics.

You have my sympathy. And you do have a case if the persons intention is to cause upset or stress

well firstly you go to a very public court and try sue him for bringing your good name into disrepute then you take him to the very public higher courts where his lawyer asks you about your character and what you get up to on fabulous swingers and shows a few pics around the legal team including the high court judge who can you believe gets a boner and has to adjourn for an hour to take all the pics in, he then comes to his decision after having shared all the pics with the jury who by now to are flustered and it all gets thrown out of court, lack of evidence

I dont put any pics on line of me on any platform. Once you put something 'online' its out there for people to find. Ive a friend who is in Internet Security . WHAT IS REVENGE PORN?

Revenge Porn is the sharing of private, sexual materials, either photos or videos, of another person without their consent and with the purpose of causing embarrassment or distress. The images are

sometimes accompanied by personal information about the subject, including their full name, address and links to their social media profiles.

The offence applies both online and offline and to images which are shared electronically or in a more traditional way so includes the uploading of images on the internet, sharing by text and e-mail, or showing someone a physical or electronic image.

WHAT WILL THE OFFENCE COVER?

The new offence will criminalise the sharing of private, sexual photographs or films, where what is shown would not usually be seen in public. Sexual material not only covers images that show the genitals but also anything that a reasonable person would consider to be sexual, so this could be a picture of someone who is engaged in sexual behaviour or posing in a sexually provocative way.

WHAT IS CHANGING?

The big change is that there will now be a specific offence for this practice and those found guilty of the crime could face a sentence of up to two years in prison. The new offence is due to come into force in the spring.

Revenge Porn is not new and currently, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) prosecutes cases around Revenge Porn using a range of existing laws.

Sending explicit or nude images of this kind may, depending on the circumstances, be an offence under

the Communications Act 2003 or the Malicious Communications Act 1988. Behaviour of this kind, if

repeated, may also amount to an offence of harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997
