"Need some words of whisdom/advice on how to stop. I have tried twice and tend to give in after a day or two. Im a single mum and have a stressy job so tend to have one when im stressing and just need to have 5 min, that was how it started anyway! Is it easier to just go cold turkey and try my best to push past that 24/36 hour bit where i give in? Do vapes help? I dont really want to get addicted to using one of those tho. I know you can buy patches and gums? Have people had any good experience with using them? Taar in advance!" Everyones different, i went cold turkey but it was hard. I know a few people who tried the being put to sleep method and they never smoked again ( including my mum who easily smoked 40 a day)

"This isn’t a facetious question. Do you actually want to quit? I know i should, and have many times, but the problem is I enjoy smoking so i find it difficult to summon/maintain the will power to give up, keeping myself busy tends to lessen the amount i smoke " Can you message me, im outside your age filter bit x

I'm now clean 12 years off the alcohol and 5 off the fags . No patches and no support from anyone . I did it all by just stopping. I did a day and its fucking hard . So I said to myself everytime I wanted a fag or a drink . " I'm never going to go thought that again, I'm not giving in to the little devil in my head telling me to have a fag or drink . Everyday you dont have a fag is one more step to never have another one . Tell yourself it can only be a good thing not to have one and no good will ever come from having a fag . Nothing. Do it , be good to yourself. Live without the need of an addiction. Hope this helps and I'm here help anyone that may want help . X

I have been using a vape since 2016, itvwas hard transitioning but worth it in long run, I’m not saying it’s healthy but it is 99.99999999999% safer than cigarettes. I feel healthier to. Patches worked for me long time ago but I enjoyed smoking. Good luck OP with whatever you decide.

"I've quit and failed multiple times. On one occasion though I thought I'll get to the end of this month and try to quit again. Half way through the month I woke up in the morning, had my coffee and usual routine would have been the cigarette after but I felt like I didn't really want that cigarette. So I didn't have it then and not had one for 10 years now. Not sure how to explain it but I'm thinking it has to be that will and power in your head first. Not the understanding that you have to for some reason but the actual - you don't need/want it anymore. Mrs"

Started going to the gym and not putting myself in situations where I would normally smoke, like I stopped going out for a few weeks. It is hard, but once you get to the 2-3 week period, it's smooth sailing !

I did cold turkey over 3 months ago from a 30 a day habit I have tried vaping in the past but I just don’t like it I got myself that smokefree app which shows you how much you have saved etc - currently £972 I will always be a ‘smoker’ as I really enjoyed it but I’m choosing not to smoke now and loving the extra cash in my pocket Good luck x

I use the demotivator website which calculates the cost of things before you buy. Really gets you thinking about what you can live without
