"Basically everyone needs to be OK with it- there's no right or wrong way to ask really, so long as all parties are on board with doing so." Yep, agree! Mrs TMN x

"Yep the interested parties should ask their own partners if they are happy with it first. They can always discuss with the other couple too,to make sure all happy." This would be our approach if ever we found ourselves in this situation

"If, as part of a couple meeting another couple, the wife of 2nd couple wants to meet husband of 1st couple, what would you consider the correct etiquette for asking permission? Hope that makes sense!! I think Wife 2 should primarily ask Wife 1 (and Husband 1 should ask Husband 2) #swingerdilemmas" That is a minefield. How is the wife/partner of the first couple going to feel when she finds out you want to meet again without her? I know you are not meeting as a couple without her but you still want a meet without her. Also her partner/husband may also feel insulted you want to meet him alone. I would leave well alone if I was you.

Frankly your caveman misogynistic "asking for permission" makes me cringe Ms Icebreaker

Hope that makes sense!! I think Wife 2 should primarily ask Wife 1 (and Husband 1 should ask Husband 2) #swingerdilemmas" I was really cool with this question until the dread word etiquette reared its ugly head. Every time I see the word etiquette I read it as 'other people's rules' - and then my brain wanders off to ask 'what kind of people make up rules for other people'? If you've got a 2*2 relationship matrix only the people in the relationships can define what the rules for that matrix should be. There is no externality to it - the 4 people involved might choose to import other people's rules into the matrix, but they have to choose to do that, and there's no universal set of rules. I'm afraid I'm one of those people who when someone tells me what the rules are gets all iconoclastic and starts asking when god died and elected someone else to dish out the commandments. Oh, and by the way, if the question is more than just hypothetical, good luck. Mr Icebreaker
