Hi I have been on this site for a few months now and have read numerous profiles and really want to get involved-I have a few kinks and love to give deep oral and long massages…….. BUT I am fearful about engaging due to concerns about getting STIs through oral sex. I was wondering whether any Fabbers would be willing either in this forum or privately to give me some honest advice based on their experience as to how safe it really is?? as I am yearning to start Fabbing!!

You should educate yourself from a reputable source (NHS etc)……. You can contract an STI from oral sex.

If you are fearful then maybe a swinging site is not for you

It is possible to contract sti from oral.

Speak to a health professional but it is a low risk activity. I do a lot more oral sex than your average person... and have never contracted anything.

There is a risk but I educated myself to the risks and decided it was one I was prepared to take.

So if you're going to do this, you have to accept that there are risks. When it comes to oral, assuming you have the sense to not go down on anyone with obvious sores, or while you have bleeding gums, you're mostly at risk from the bacterials (gonorrhoea, chlamydia, etc.) These will all go away with a course of antibiotics. Unfortunately, so will your partner, if you're cheating.

So that's the clincher. If you're in a relationship and doing this behind your partner's back, and you're still sexually active with that partner, you're looking at a very awkward conversation if you have the sense to test, and ever test positive, or if you or they ever develop symptoms.

The life changing STI's are unlikely, but not impossible via simple oral sex. If you're sexually active with multiple partners, then it's worth getting vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B as a matter of routine. There's also PrEP when it comes to HIV, but that rather depends on whether you fall into the risk groups to be eligible.

There is a woman on here who states in her profile that she will only engage in safe sex including a condom with oral. I found it really refreshing to be honest! It’s not for us mind you but it really stuck out to me!

Gonnoreah is easily caught orally.

Then hpv, hsv, hiv, syphilis can all be caught orally. However it's harder to catch than through unprotected sex

Yes, both bacteria and viral pathogens can be passed via oral sex. Some pathogenic microorganisms are more likely to be passed orally than others.

You can also go private if over the age limit for the vaccine, albeit very expensive. The age limit is essentially in place due to financial and social reasons - that you’ve theoretically already been exposed to the virus and the vaccine needs to be taken before exposure. However, since there are many high risks types, you would still get the benefit of the vaccine if only exposed to one or two, since Gardasil 9 covers several types (both high and low risk).

What price can you put on peace of mind?

I once caught chlamydia through oral so know it certainly can happen!

I knew it was via oral and not penetrative sex as I always use condoms for penetrative sex.

When actively swinging with multiple partners I get tested at a local GUM clinic every 3 months with swabs and blood tests too.

Chlamydia can be cleared up within 1 week of taking a course of antibiotics, but if left undiagnosed and untreated can cause a number of health problems!

There is a huge stigma still relating to contracting an STI.

And I was most upset and embarrassed when it happened to me! But the nurse at the GUM clinic said 1 in 9 people have Chlamydia it is not an uncommon infection and if during active swinging you play with multiple partners the risk increases with every encounter! It is just like getting close to someone and catching a common cold just this virus is passed on by direct contact of mouth to genitals or genital to genital contact.

As advised before OP. Do your own research and decide what is best for you.

With all things in life there ARE risks. It is upto you and you alone to manage those risks.
