age dilemma

Hi all.

I'm quite new to the site so still feeling my way.

Got a wink off a very attractive person who thinks my photos are 'hot'.

I was flattered and sent a meesage. A couple of messages later and they want to arrange a meet. All good...but...

This person is 20, I am a late fifties guy, my kids are in their 30s!

I should have thought things through before I replied.

I need to decline, but without giving offence or knocking their confidence. Any suggestions please.

Yes, varified and been on here a while.

Keeps messaging now asking why I'm not replying.

Could be a piss take I suppose, but if it's not and I don't reply soon it'll look like I'm a waster

As far as the age thing goes, why not meet for a social first? You'll know if it's too awkward then.

If you don't want to meet people that young reply, quickly and unambiguously saying that they are absolutely gorgeous but you didn't realise how young they were and can't go ahead. Wish them well and then amend your message filters so no one that young can contact you in future.

Yes, they have face pics on profile, I sent private.

I wish I hadn't replied to this wink, I've had a few and no problems, its just the age.

Think I'll put it down to inexperience on these sites and just say I've had a re-think. I hope it is a piss take and no one gets upset. Thanks for the advice.

was, when I was younger, I always fancied older people. That and the fact I was flattered...yes i know I'm a silly old sod

We get some interest from 20-somethings, hot, slim, almost model material.

Some are obvious fakes.

One or two might be a piss-take.

But some have been genuine.

What have you got to loose.. have a social, ask the question "Why?" face to face...and see where it goes.

I am seeking older men here, and I have had messages asking why, one guy even proceeded to claim he is adamant I’m fake, and I’m probably a bloke in his 50s because nobody my age could possibly be interested in older.

If you messaged her without checking her profile and seeing she was 20 then I sympathise with you but if you did check her profile and saw her age then it's trouble of your own making.

Saying that explain to her that she's a tad too young for you and that you were flattered by her attention. Job done!

Hi just read your post, I am 36 and myself and my husband have been having regular meets with a man who is 59, don’t feel that you have to decline as with me I prefer older men, I think it’s the security they offer and are different to the typical men on the site. I would much prefer to meet and older guy than someone my own age or younger. Hope this helps, good luck ??

If you just think it'd be awkward, have a social and then decide. If you KNOW it's not right for you, just tell her, as noted above.

It's rare, but not unusual for someone so young to fancy you. Recently I found out that a young colleague had a crush on me, I found it flattering, but would never persue the issue. It may not be a piss take, so as others have said, let her down gently, most of us have had a crush on someone much older than us at some point in our lives.

But your profile says from age 30 so if 36 is your lower limit, raise the age on profile

We have our minimum age set to 40, sometimes we lower it to 35 but then we get inundated so if I'm feeling overwhelmed I raise to 40 again.

However, if someone between 35 and 40 keeps looking and fabbing pics, and if we like the look of them, I will initiate contact
