"Just posted a similar thread in the lounge with little response. I want to know if anyone has any advice on the best method of removing pubic hair and avoiding that horrible rash a few days after" Waxing def lasts longer but go and see a professional doing it yrself can take awhile and there is a technique. Seeing a professional will also help minimise any reaction you might have because wherever yr waxing causing minor trauma to the skin. The root of the hair is actually being pulled out from below the surface of the skin. Rashes can appear on anybody and aftercare plays a real important part of the treatment and ensuring the skin doesn't become too dry as well as keeping the area clean to minimise any infections in the hair follicle.

"How painful is waxing? I like the idea of being silky smooth" To be fair we all have different pain thresholds so u can't gage it like that. Some describe it as a slight sting or slap but that lasts for a second or two. Technique from the therapist to minimise any discomfort is also imp. Some therapists are trained in waxing but not all are trained or qualified in intimate waxing (around the gentials). So before u go and see anyway make sure u find out that they are appropriately qualified. Also depends on what u need waxing. Men esp the chest area can be the most uncomfortable and the sac easiest to do because the skin is thin there and the hair root isnt as embedded like the chest. The area above the penis is similar to the chest and can be more painful than other areas. My advice to u would be try an easier area like the back if at all possible before venturing to intimate areas.

Just experimenting with different ways of achieving bare and thinking waxing might be the way. Tried it once after using veet a few times and much better, will definitely try again! Mr.

" I third this! Leaves you very smooth. No itchy regrowth, if like me you like to have some fuzz some of the time. Doesn’t smell disgusting like other hair removal creams. I also recommend using a scrunchie to get the last of the hair off. Available on eBay and amazon

"Wax Depends where yr waxing. Alot of men can have breakouts on chest and back first couple of times its done. Not just men that can have break outs. Go and get it done properly and follow aftercare....for me that is using a dry exfoliating mitt on the waxed area from about 7 days after waxing. This helps to stop ingrown hairs. " I only wax men and it's the chest and back where its is most common to have a breakout but I'm sure there are areas on women that have a similar reaction. It's quite normal to have this a few times before yr skin adjusts and acclimatises to waxing. However I still have clients that after many treatments still have breakouts and to minimise these advise them accordingly. The difficulty is getting people to follow it, you can only warn them of the possibilities and after that it's their responsibility. Any waxing treatment should be followed by a simple aftercare regime that should consist of keeping the area clean to prevent any infection and also the use of a good moisturiser. The skin needs to calm down before any exfoliation. The moisturiser will help keep the skin supple and allow the hair to pierce through the skin during regrowth. The problem is that if the skin is too dry from dead cells of skin the new hair is unable to penetrate the skin in its regrowth phase causing the bumps, ingrown hairs and spots. If you are going to exfoliate its should be done gently anything too abrasive will cause redness and the skin will take longer to heal.

"Moisturise daily, the rash is from the hairs breaking through the skin,(And dirt getting under) the softer they are the less irritated the skin. obviously wax and cream but it depends what you want to put yourself through, not many men think of moisturising but soft skin is amazing " I don’t think it is hair regrowth that causes the rash for me / if I shave/wax I get the rash straight away.

" Yeh the op said it comes a few days later so that’s what it sounds like to me, only know after researching it myself. If yours is instant it’s likely you have sensitive skin and it doesn’t like the products(wax/razor moisture bar) if you have a moisturiser you know doesn’t irritate you, use it as a shaving cream it will be a barrier between your skin and the razor bar , always go along the hair they say, never against. Just what I’ve looked up in the past , no guru or anything x

"I’ve been think about try the powder as let me know how you get on please, as I’m very dark haired. Molly XX I will do. Didn't try tonight. Hard day at work so I had a nap instead " Did the patch test on a bit of my undercarriage the other day. No problems. So went full on tonight. I followed the instructions and the paste was a lot thicker this time, which made it easier to apply. I left it for 5 of the 5-7 minutes they recommend before removing it. It definitely works! I'm bald as a coot down below. Unfortunately my labia have swollen and are very tender. I've had to have 2 cold baths already to ease the burn... And I'm giving serious thought to going knickerless at work tomorrow! This could be because I started with my labia and moved on to my other bits (which are all fine) so I inadvertently left it on there too long, or just the fact that the paste was too thick and concentrated this time. I'll prob try again in a month or so, making a runnier paste and starting with my less delicate areas. If it happens again it's going in the bin...

"I agree with veet. I slap it on, leave for 20 mins and then scrape off and shower. I'll normally prep the night before so if there any areas that get a bit irritated if has time to settle down. I wouldn't recommend 20 mins if you've never used it before though. Sin." I recommend 40 mins for ultra smooth pussy or balls....for 5 mins then see you in hell

"Heard sugaring is good and less painful than waxing? Or shave every day if you need to or not " Sugaring is no diff from waxing and pulls the hair out at the root. It still causes a micro trauma to the skin. Diff product, it's natural for a start and only sticks to the hair. It's just a marketing ploy to say it's less painful as nowadays most waxes are used with a tiny application of oil to create a barrier against the skin and wax to avoid irritation. Same result just slightly diff techniques and products used.
