So... as a couple we are wanting to explore kink, BDSM and Dom/sub play more. There are things we both like and we have great fun. We are also really open minded to try new things and push our boundaries . However, we would like to explore further. I suppose the question is how? Anyone on here, other sites etc? Advice appreciated

There's a well known FETish LIFE website you can Google which may be what you're after

You have some great events around your way for those interested in bdsm. Stadia run all sorts of events and you will see them all listed on the website suggested above x

I can only tell you our experience. We read books (non fiction) and talk about things. We experiment together and thoroughly enjoy it. I won't go in to specifics because everyone is different but I suggest you both write down exactly what you'd like to try and swap or search for mojo upgrade and try that.

Start small and work up.

Enjoy the experience, it's a lot of fun

I would add if you have not read them already I would recommend.'Screw the roses give me the thorns', any of Jay Wisemen's books, 'The Good Topping Book and the 'The Good Bottoming Book'.

In terms of looking for what is out there, take the online BDSM test as this may throw up suggestions of things to explore that you would not think of from your own minds. One of the difficulties of kink is not being aware of all the kinks that you would be into it you knew they existed.

These days I distinguish between being into a "straight kink" which is kink for itself or "hedonistic kink. This choice will also shape how you explore. By hedonistic kink, I mean sex between you or with others is an integral part of your kink.

Because you are based in Birmingham there are a load of kink resources. I believe Xstasia runs a number of events and has peer rope there.

On the third Sunday of the month is the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar which has items for sale and workshops.

Good Luck

Another reccomendation for the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar. Not only is it the best fetish market I've been to but there are so many good resources like workshops, a table of fliers about clubs, events, traders, etc and you can learn loads and find out about all sorts of things going on just by chatting to other visitors or the stall holders.

As mentioned above the BBB is a nice relaxed afternoon event to go shopping, get inspiration and touch base with others who maybe able to point you in the right direction.

The kink scene can be a little serious and/or intimidating (in general though people are lovely and accepting). But maybe try a kink event more aimed at the swinger community. For example some of kink events at some of the main swingers clubs. You may find this a little more light hearted and on more familiar territory. Kind of more middle ground to start off with.

Also follow your gut instinct (and experience as it builds). Do blindly accept that everyone who seems confident and knowledgeable knows what they are doing or are just right for you. My Girl is everything to me and I would not put her in a pair of hands I was not happy with. You do get a feel for the people who are a safe set of hands, genuinly caring and overall a good human being. Never roll with something is the vibe is wrong for one of you.

Find a couple with experience to show you the ropes...

Yes pun intended.

Nothing like a guiding hand to help you explore,

Something we were not looking for,

But after meeting with a couple who have experience,

Found our interest stirred .

Kink is supposed to be serious? I must be doing it wrong. I guess electrocuting bumholes is serious business and should be treated as such.
