Etiquette for dormant threads

Fairly new to fora, and looking at all sorts of stuff. There are often relevant threads which have been dormant for weeks, months and possibly years. What is the etiquette for use? Can I post or do I leave them and start again? Or am I over thinking it all? (Probably the latter!)

There's no particular etiquette but frequent restarting old threads could be frowned on. It's generally better to start afresh for anything over a couple of months I'd say.

People resurrect threads all the time, for different reasons.

Some do it because they are funny, (gangbang shed anyone?) some because it (the thread) sums up what they are asking / commenting on.

If it fits, dig it up.

There is no harm in resurrecting a thread if you feel the need. It even has it's own term... necroposting.

post i say but quite often theirs a reason they haven't reached fruition
