Male/intimate hair removal tips?

Jump to newest

Fairly new to this "no pubes" thing, so looking for a bit of advice. Shaving is leaving me with quite a rash and ingrowing hairs around my cock and above it, enough that it's horrendously unattractive

I'm thinking about using hair removal cream instead and was wondering what advice people have?

I've been using Missy's (new) razors and tried foam/gel/moisturiser/baby oil without really much of a difference tbh and it's getting a bit frustrating!

So tips, thoughts anyone? My skin isn't hugely sensitive, but I also don't really want chemical burns on my knackers

Thanks guys and gals,

J X X

Why do you need to go completely bald, just keep it neatly trimmed op

I've tried hair removal cream and it burns the top of one of my legs (only the one!) I generally lop it off with a pair of hair clippers and finish off with a razor

It's a confidence thing I think. I feel more confident without it. I have zero idea why, I just do.

I've tried everything razor wise and still get the same. Looks like my crotch has been hit by shotgun not a good look.

Hi, I wax and so does he. We can't be doing with shaving... It doesn't hurt as much as you think either. Maybe a bit on the balls, but if they are stretched properly, it's just a second or so of pain.

You can probably get booked in a local salon that offers intimate waxing for men. As long as the therapists are trained, you'll be fine, and smooth for up to a month. I'd stay clear of any creams - I've seen what chemical burns can do down there!!!

I've used hair removal cream before. It's good but sometimes I have to go back over with a razor. Read the instructions and don't go over the time allowed. Also patch test is always needed. I have to say there's nothing better than feeling smooth.

Use a good quality conditioner instead of a shaving foam. Used to get razor rash but once started using conditioner have had no problems.

There and to the left a bit

Smoothest I have ever been was from a waxing - it's not cheap (about £50 for cock, mound and balls) but lasts a good few weeks, and really is smooth, and if you follow the instructions you won't get a rash etc.

With shaving I've found just running the razor over in the shower, without foam or anything, every morning works well, you might get a rash initially but once you keep it that way by shaving each day, once the rash has gone it tends to stay gone.

People often mention "magic powder" which works well but haven't tried it myself, so can't comment as to how good it is.

"Use a good quality conditioner instead of a shaving foam. Used to get razor rash but once started using conditioner have had no problems. "

Yes use hair conditioner it coats the hair n plumps it up. Best to do after u been soaking in bath a bit. Use conditioner on hair then shave. Depends on area, but short strokes n rinse blade. Don't use on long hair, trim it down to 3-4mm.

Most important bit is moisturise it. After u shower n yr dry slap some on. If yr getting red rashes continuously try some kind of medicated wash, or something with tea tree oil in it. Like waxing, it's the aftercare that's really important not just the hair removal. Don't forget u may also need to exfoliate the area.....very, very gently after a few days. Reddening and spotty rashes also come from the fact the skin is dry and the hair can't break through the cells off dead skin on the outer layer. They get blocked and infected. If this ever happens to me tea tree oil....diluted this bit very important, diluted! Just wipe gently over the area. May sting slightly but its important u dilute it a bit and dont use neat. Cant stress that enough. Then moisturise the skin needs to be soft enough to allow the hair to push thru

Good luck

Completely agree with Niki. Male wax therapist here so my follow up advice would be just make sure they use "hard" wax for intimate areas. If they use "strip" wax, I wouldn't recommend. There's quite a diff tbh.

Double check they are trained/qualified in intimate Male waxing. Despite popular belief yr balls are the easiest and actually not as painful as say having yr chest waxed. Its quick n easy and more often u get it done 4-6 weeks u'll easily get used to it.

Good luck any advice PM me

Yes! NO STRIP WAX, apart from the bum - not many nerve endings there so no pain. Hard wax is the best.

Thanks everyone! I'll have a go with conditioner, see how that goes. If not looks like it's waxing. It's just affording it really, but if it's good for a month or so it's not so bad!

I've heard of magic powder, just the results seem so hit and miss, as does the rate at which people get burns lol

Thanks again! Will see how it goes! J x

As someone who is always completely hair free my method is always the razor.

I used to get a rash, but not any more, as others have said use moisturiser.

For me I always use Gillette Venus, particularly for my ‘girly’ bits. It has a moisturiser built in to the blades. They are expensive - but well worth it.

I keep on top of it all by always shaving a different bit of my body every time I shower ..... if I’m going out for a night or on a date (I should be so lucky??) then I will do all, and moisturise all over too ..... it feels amazing and clean.

Hope that helps

I always razor everything below so it's smooth, then use a beard trimmer set to 1 to give it a short cut on top. Personally, I find the sensation 10 times better when I'm shaved.

Don't do it!

Cannot stand this bald chicken fashion for hairless cocks. I really wish it would stop as it doesn't look good!

Big turn off, in fact .

Hell, before I wound up single, my other half use to shave my arse crack for me too. Always leave a bit on top though, just so it doesn't look silly.

Use Magic Powder.

Yes, it stinks when you use it, but its the best thing to use.

As with any hair-removal chemicals, test for sensitivity first.

And for the love of god, don't leave it on too long, and don't wash the area before using it, you need the skins natural oils left in to protect it.

Also, try not to get it right into the crack between groin and leg, can be a little sensitive in there.

Waxing is ultimately the best thing. It can bite the first time because the roots have really bedded in. If you then her it done every 4-5 weeks it's nothing. And that is a heck of a lot less hassle and upkeep than creams, powers, or razors.

Gross as it is, I have quite big balls and their far more comfortable bald. Less sticky, sweatiness. I put a bit if weight on after hitting 30 and was getting some slight sweat rash/skin infections and since shaving that's gone completely, so i want to stick with it.

Some good advice on here everyone so thank you!

Really? Will have to have a look and see! I do like lush tbh, it's only the fact that the nearest one to us is in Lincoln and we don't get there too often that stops us getting stuff from them.

Very useful thread, thanks all for the advice!

A few have mentioned using moisturizer after they shave...what sort of moisturizer though (face, hands?)

Any brand names you can mention please?

Hi all, I've waxed, shaved and used creams. Whilst the waxing was good i didn't stay smooth anywhere near as long as the claims stated so now I shave and I use creams.

When I shave I always use hair conditioner works an absolute treat creams are great too but always needs a shave top up.

As others have already said..MOISTURISE MOISTURISE

it also feels great rubbing it in

I am yet to try magic powder or nads cream..but I have experienced "the burn" after using creams..

tip to stop the burn..

DO NOT WASH THE CROWN JEWELS WITH SOAP AFTER USING CREAM. JUST RINSE WITH WATER!!!

I own a salon and have been thinking of doing intermit male waxing. But wasn’t sure if there was a call for it. My partner also has a stubble rash and didn’t want that to put people off. He has to shave every week. I warm wax and it lasts for 4 week

There's a couple of reasons why yr waxing didnt stay as smooth as its claimed. Firstly, u can only remove hair that's pierced through the skin and long enough for the wax to stick. Yr hair grows in cycles so after waxing hair that's in a growth phase will appear and thats new hair. The hair removed will have been pulled out from the root and take upto 4 weeks to grow and reappear.

How get round this is that you get waxed roughly every 4 weeks and you will eventually tap into the hair growth cycle. From that point it should or can last up till 6 weeks. The trick is during the 4 weeks do not shave or use creams it will interrupt the growth pattern and cycle.

If u went to a professional waxer they should have mentioned this to make u understand how yr hair grows and doing it every 4 weeks will ultimately work for u in the long run.

Well survived the Veet for men. Don’t think I left it on long enough but sooner that than a trip to A&E.

Finished off with shaving and using Lynx shower gel rather than shaving gel, glides a lot better and smoother results. Took the advice of moisturiser, so see how it goes.

Man up, use a blowtorch!

Seriously, I use the wife's "Venus" razor, they're specially made to remove pubic and other intimate hair, don't clog and do the job perfectly. Plus shaving oil and hot water.

An old girlfriend introduced me to Veet for Women with Aloe Vera (Sensitive Skin).

Works for me with no irritation. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and wash off with warm water.

It's mainly the shaving rash which stops me being completely smooth all the time...that and laziness

So I usually trim as short as possible and shaved my shaft and balls

Keeps it nice and clean and tidy

This could explain why as I was not informed of this. However I went to a place (in stretford manchester) which had great reviews and had been waxing for many years.
