Hi,

So we where speaking to a woman, just for a day and all her answers where 1 word answers but she wanted to move the chat to whatsapp, are paranoid its some sort of scam, is that even a thing?

Thoughts please

I'd assume they wanted wank chat (so a man behind the profile) or they wanted to move the chat off here to ask for money.

Always trust your gut.

If your gut is telling you something is not rite then follow your heart. Don’t give out numbers unless you have met up first even then you can still get random messages at awkward times. X

It's quite likely, they wanted your number otherwise why not use the other popular chat app

Your gut feeling is probably right, if they can't have a conversation in the messages then how is having your number going to help.

I'd be wary too. Plus, where's the benefit of WhatsApp over chat on here... for one word answers?

I ensure my social media isn't linked to my number, but I always ask for WhatsApp over the other apps to continue chat from here - generally I find those who are serious about get to know me are absolutely fine with it, those who just want a quick fuck or wank chat will get funny and try to insist on Kik.

It's a trust step, I guess.

And if it goes wrong...block Not that I've ever had to do that before I must admit!

Not sure their fake or dodgy. I think some people are like that on fab, very lazzy conversation wise. I'm a bit of a talker so I normally get fed up if I keep getting one word replays back and stop talking. I normally assume their either very dull, not that interested or dodgy. Frankly non of them are any good to me.

But I'm fairly guarded about sharing access with my vanilla media world with people I don't know and very much trust. After all who really needs to communicate through other than fab and kik, especially when you don't really know each other well?

We use here or if moving elsewhere then use kik. Don't feel there's any need to swap numbers in this day & age. We'd rather protect our privacy as much as possible. Can't be too careful these days. Doesn't mean we're dodgy, just cautious

I think it's worth looking at it rationally, which likely takes the emotions out of it somewhat.

I'm never particularly fond of anyone trying to push me in any one particular direction, so I often suggest my own alternative to see how they react.

For privacy reasons it can be worth getting a pay as you go Sim card as a backup, to use with people who you're uncertain about. You can always give them the normal one later.

A lot of men push for app chat as it's unmonitored -wank fodder or they play foul of fab, perhaps lots of profiles. Some people feel more comfortable on an app, perhaps as they are at work or someone may see which website they're on and they can get away with using just an app, as less suspicious or restricted.

I prefer to follow my own habits at my pace - it's too slow for some people.

Go with your gut feeling. If you feel compelled to chat of this site, using the KiK app can be useful as you do not have to give away your mobile number. That being said, she could be a person that likes to text chat all the time. M

We are having a very similar thing at the moment and are quite local to you guys. Sounds dodgy to us possibly same fake?

they sent private face pic quite quickly after we explained we only share face pics after chatting and getting a ‘feel’ for each other, our chat is one word answers from them no matter what we ask them to instigate in further talk. We did search with the face pic online and got no results but the conversation is so forced it just don’t feel right. We like people than can hold a conversation at least!

Sometimes I have found conversations on here where women only give me one word answers, and it feels like they’re being rude, but then I think single girls are probably trying to send 10 messages in the same time as I am spending writing one.

And I use kik if people don’t want to carry the chat on on here. Safer for me I find. Plus then you can verify the person is real and I’m not chatting to a catfish

This is fascinating! OP you're not paranoid, but some on here are. Having the need to "look over their shoulder" constantly because of how they conduct themselves online. When their games unravel it's panic mode!

They will create multiple profiles, do the hide and seek thing to spy, edit profile text and on and on. Coming back to this specific point because I experienced it...

"Hi,

Always trust your instincts. If I'm chatting to someone here and they reply with one word answers, I'll leave them alone.

Short version:

When I rejoined I was a like a newbie and had let my guard down chatting to a person with mostly one word answers. After a while I realised something is not right so best to end communication... but the person was saying let's carry on because can get on same page. So I thought give benefit of the doubt...

After 4 weeks:

That person turned out to be a sycophant!! Omg I could not believe it... the game unravelled and when "caught out" because the person had tripped up on own... it was all back tracking... but by that time it was too late. More and more negative things were coming out...

My word... even with all my experience/knowledge I did not see that coming! Luckily no harm done, but if things had gone like others have experienced I would have been annoyed with myself for not trusting my instincts!

Just goes to show if you have a good nature and come across people like that they can try to take advantage of you...

Having said that for those that have come across any form of negativity never ever allow that to change/stop you. Learn/adapt from it to become stronger and more knowledgable on the tell tell signs... carry on doing what you're doing with good intentions and Fab will take care of the rest...

Plenty of fun opportunities despite the timewasters/fakes and people pretending... tricking etc etc
