I have hidden my profile for two months and just came back on the site after a 6 week absence and received a few messages as well as folk who have looked at me. Didn't think it could happen - what's the point of hiding profile then?

all hiding your profile does is stop people reading it, all other actions remain possible all the views saw a page saying " user has hidden profile" lol

But if a profile is hidden you can't message them. I have tried in the past with a few folk and it won't let me send a message

If you don't want to receive messages you need to set message filters.

I'm not being sarcastic but the point of hiding your profile is hiding your profile, you need to use the other tools like mail filters as well.

I actually hid my profile because I took a break and didn't wish to have to answer or receive messages.

if you go on a hidden profile there is still the facility to send a message, if you were unable to then the recipient had you blocked probably

Yes I understand. You still need to set your message filters to stop you receiving messages though.

Maybe they have sent you a message/messages before? Can't ppl get in touch with you if they have made contact before? Even from a hidden profile? C Xx

they can message a hidden profile anyway, unless other filters are applied
