Yes, it's worth doing. Finding the right photographer for you is a bit more challenging.

The amount of 'professional' photographers on here is astounding.

You must ask what their kit is, see some of their portfolios even if it’s photos of landscapes or what not, you can judge that someone has a creative eye or not
