Profile over a year old and no verifications

Jump to newest

So I joined up to Fab ages ago but my account has been inactive for the majority of it until recently.

I hopped on now and then, maybe several months apart, if that. But over the last three or four weeks I’ve become quite active with daily logins.

However because of this, I have still not had a meet and as a result no verifications. Does this look bad against my profile and put people off?

I’ve not had a great deal of luck via messages, only the odd response. I’m thinking this could play a part for the lack of luck as well as being a single male on the site.

I’d be interested to hear what people think?

I would suggest you start again. New profile and then go to a social or club and get a face to face verification.

Stick with what you've got mate. If you start again you'll have to wait a week to post in the forums, some folk filter out newbies etc. Stick with what you've got and just explain the absence in your profile if you so wish.

We wouldn't meet anyone who's been on the site for over a year and still not verified. Just too many alarm bells ringing for the right or wrong reasons.

Thanks everyone. Think I’ll start over as most of you suggested and attend clubs for face to face meets that will hopefully verify me

There and to the left a bit

Whilst no verification in a year will put some people off, it's also not that uncommon and nor is it necessarily the reason for your perceived lack of responses - you've not asked for profile advice so I can't give any, but it's often one of the things people look at when they receive a message, so whatever you decide to do make sure yours is the best "shop window" for you that it can possibly be.

Similarly sometimes the "cold message" approach doesn't work, so consider changing that, either by attending clubs or socials as has already been suggested, or even simple things like getting more involved in the forums or chat rooms here can help get you noticed and spark conversations.

I also can't give you profile advice as you haven't asked for it.

Do agree with all of the above

For some reason you main pic reminds me of Tom Cassel on YouTube. Not a bad thing and defo not a profile review

The exact same thing happened to us. We opened an account out of curiosity when we were still deciding if this was for us or not. The account ended up being over a year old without any verifications. After a while some people would get really nasty when we messaged, calling us fakes, so we deleted and started again. It might be an idea to give that a try.

Just go to a social.

Suddenly you'll have 38 verifications. Bingo.

We haven't been verified for about a year. It doesn't put us off if people have no verifications, everyone has to start somewhere and we know how difficult it can be for single men.

I suspect some people shag anything in order to get verifications on here. I would rather have none if that was me.

Exactly this, just put a wee note in your profile. I've no issue with meeting unverified people

When I first joined, several years ago, my problem was I had 4 meets but they were all newbies like me without their own verifications. Sites rules are you can't verify someone if you don't have one yourself. So I went over 7 months with no verifications even though I had meets.

I think that rule should be relaxed to give newbies who meet newbies more of a chance to get on the ladder so to speak.

I must have shot myself in the foot over the verification thing as I created my account then forgot about it for some seven or eight months before I even logged in. I then managed a meet within the first two weeks but due to not knowing how valuable veris were at that point, it never even occurred to ask for one. Then subsequently I've not made any connections. It'd be annoying if I had to ditch my account and start over just because there's nobody local for me at the moment.

No need to start again! Just go to a club and chat to a few people at the bar and you will have lots of verifications in one evening. Go with no expectations of play and you’ll have a great night chatting to likeminded people.

You should try Cupids if you’re in Manchester its a friendly club and the staff are great.

Some really ridiculous advice here. Why would anyone start a new profile then go to a club or social to get verified

Have they started checking fab verifications at the doors of clubs now?

Close! One or two clubs won't allow single men unless they have a profile on here with recent verifications.

Really? I've not only spoken to guys over 50, I've met them too. They just need to have a positive attitude and pleasant personality. Oh, and I've verified them as well.

Most clubs have nothing to do with Fabswingers, so why would they only let you in if you have verifications.

At my local club single guys are welcome on a Friday. They are asked if they are on Fabswingers and will get a personal verification from the club owner to state that they visited the club and something about the person. It's also easy to talk to some of the regulars and swap fab names, and then get a verification to say that the newbie was polite, friendly, like their photos etc. So going to a club gives you chance to meet 50 or more like minded people in one evening. I still see it as a fabulous opportunity to meet others, find out more about swinging and get at least two veri in one evening .

Why not keep your current profile but attend club meets? Best of both worlds as I see it. Or try for a veri on cams? I cant see any problems with your profile and certainly no probs with your pics. Just need a starting point but that doesn't necessarily require a new profile. I'd rather progress with someone who's been on here a while and knows how it works as opposed to someone with a new profile. I think maybe ypuve jyst been unlucky but certainly don't give up. Love the waistcoat look btw x

No varification isn't a problem. Ive probably veri'ed/been verified from about 50% of my encounters. I'm not really that into them and many other aren't either. I think being on here over a year is a good thing, regardless of veries as it indicates a chance you maybe at least genuine. Maybe no verifications mixed with joined 2 hours ago, I'd be weary. Or joined 2 hours ago and already have 3 varifications. Honestly don't worry about it.

Really appreciate all the advice and after reading through everything, I changed my mind and going to persevere with my current profile and attend some party’s and clubs. Seems like the most sensible solution

It's the old job interview problem all over again.

Someone who has never had a job before goes for an interview, the interviewer looks at their CV and says ''you don't have much experience, do you?'' to which the logical line of thought would be ''how am I supposed to get experience if no employer is willing to give me a chance?''.

Similar situation to this. You can't get verifications because no one is willing to have a social with you in order to verify you.

I don't particularly want to go to an organised social to get verified because I'd feel awkward going there by myself. I'm shy. I struggle to talk to people in person.

But I'd be perfectly happy talking to someone online for a few weeks or whatever and then meeting them for a quick drink during the day, even if it is literally just for a social and nothing more, because the more I get to know someone online, the easier it is for me to talk them in person.

However there's probably things I can do to get more interest. A better profile, better pictures. Unfortunately I'm shit at taking photos. I'm not very photogenic.
