Lack of sex drive on Depo

Since going on depo, the Mrs’ sex drive has taken a nose dive. Prior to the injection she had a good healthy drive but nowadays it’s only sparked when actually having sex.

Anybody else had this problem and how did you overcome it?

If it is sparked by having sex why don't you just keep having sex ?

She tried the coil and had a bad experience with it - sickness immediately after it being fitted so bad we went back same day to have it removed

It is so uncomfortable to have a coil fitted I am amazed she didn't keep it in a bit longer to see if she felt better the next day.

Think it turned out that it wasn’t fitted properly, but that was enough to put her off the coil for good unfortunately

It affected me and my sisters in exactly the same way. Libido returned almost as soon as the 3 months were up.

Literally every girl I know has experienced that.

No idea what the root cause is but.. yeah, thats a known one.

I've been on the depo for about 2 years now and not noticed any changes. It's the best form of contraception I've ever taken - straightforward, no tablets to remember, won't fall out like my coil did.... But I guess any of these hormonal contraception affect us all in different ways.

Interested to read about the Mirena. I’m on it and my libido is sky high. It wasn’t when I was on it and married tho’. Didn’t have sex for ten years then.

Had that before, constant bleeding. Looks like she’s out of options tbh

Any reason for not wanting the pill. They do single hormone pills now so you dont get the side effects

It's a common side effect. Go back to family planning and ask their advice. She may be better with a combined pill

Which coil was it? I know a few people who had a rough time with the copper coil, but rare with the mirena. The mirena coil will hurt the first time for a couple of days, but then you get 5 years of not giving it a second thought.

I think getting advice from family planning is a good idea though - and as mentioned above, maybe a snip for mr would be the easier option?!
