I have been asked to go on a cruise next year with family, they said I could choose, so I chose Alaska, I've never been in an plane, or on a ship. I really want to go, but it scares me to death. I am the type that dosent venture out much, I suppose I'm stuck in a rutt really, after being a carer 24 hours a day, but sadly that chapter has gone. How do I start my life again at my age. Advice please. Its scary.

I'm guessing you have lost someone. I am really sorry, if that is the case x

It's really hard to start again.... I'm younger than you, but had spent all my adult life with the same person.

Fab is a good start, meet people and socialise. Get a part time job, charity work to get you out and about. Gives you a purpose, which is what I'm guessing you have lost. You must have a lot of skills dealing with people who are in need, maybe use them to help others. Don't underestimate yourself

Enjoy the cruise and mingle!

Try not to think of it in a negative way , think of it as an adventure . I'm sure once you're visiting all the beautiful places you will become more confident to relax and enjoy it . I'm sure your mum would be proud going on such an adventure xxxx

And I would have caught you too if the bear costume hadn't slowed me down....

It's all about small steps

Some days you'll take two forwards and two back, but some days you'll take one forward and no back.

The past is the past and you camt change it - what you do have is control over what you do next.

Alaska is an amazing place- the rewards of experiencing it will be incredible.

Be bold.

Dear Pam

You sound as though you are grieving ....Know that feeling too well.

Being a carer is not easy as you give everything you have emotionally and get little in return.

Trust me Alaska is beautiful ...Planes and boats are easy ..A trek to get there but is stunning and if you have the opportunity then just do it.

Any fear of travelling (planes and cruise ships) is easily overcome and there is a lot of content on You Tube about this.

To see and experience beautiful things is the ultimate tribute to those who are gone.

Enjoy life whilst you can x
