Why does there seem to be so many fakes and timewasters on the site now. It's changed since I first joined.

Gave my number to arrange a meet via WhatsApp. They message but it's an international number. I question this and they say they're originally from the states but live in London and are there at present.

Does this sound right to you because I'm seeing red flags?

To reply to OP i dont think there are really that many more we have been here 12 years and have had as many fakes etc in the years past as now, in fact probably less now because we have developed a nose for them!!!!! lol

Agreed, 8 weeks is no time on here. You are still a newbie. Patience, trust, luck and a catchy profile will get you there eventually

I had the same with a lady , she called me on an Irish phone number, The meet was arranged at Chams in Darleston and as I only live 20mins from there I took a chance ,

Things worked out well and yes she was genuine.

I agree this was also a big red flag for me but the chance payed off , I suppose you just need to way up things , but definitely don’t put yourself as risk

It rings a bell with me. I'm sure I met someone who had an international number.

I would be wary though.

I've been here for a few years. Last year i attended my first party and have attended a club a few times. I'm a quiet and shy man but have been trying to talk to other members in the bar and hot tub but have not been lucky enough to play yet. It's been over 3 years since I last had any fun with a lady. Are there any conversation subjects that are best to include or avoid?

Ask them for a pic with them and a copy of one of todays newspaper front pages... sure fire way to check if they are in the uk.

It might be but..

Whatsapp will use the original number you register yourself to.

When I am back in the UK and even when I put in my UK sim card, my whatsapp will still be my original country's number.

If they know living in London why would they use there old phone concidering the roaming charges they must get, wouldn't you switch to a UK provider

Oh..never crossed my mind to change mine as I'm only back for a few weeks and then off abroad again.

He might be in similar situation.

But you are right if he stays longer or permanently.

Not denying it is a red flag. Just a thing to consider.

An increasing number of people have 24/7 internet access and have experience with using many different sites - they will move on from different ones. This also means that there's potentially an increasing number of experienced fakes, who are perhaps ever harder to spot. In response, keep increasing your own expertise at spotting them as well as your ability to meet people that you like, including using meets for multiples reasons, such as at socials or clubs.

Report anyone that you are suspicious of or know is not genuine. Vary your search criteria and how you interact with people - using live cam and other tools: whilst letting people know that you're not camming for wank fodder.

I have UK and US phone numbers - I'd generally use my UK one whilst in the UK but it's feasible to have someone here with an international number. I'd definitely be cautious if someone used one, potentially asking to speak via a UK hotel no, if they were visitors, rather than residents.
