Hi all.

It's not strictly swinging related, but I (Mr) am thinking of having the snip. I just wondered what other men's thoughts and experiences were?

North East Scotland, mostly

Did it, no problems, brief recovery time and no issues after that. So, yeah, it was good for us.

Had it years ago, in and out of the hospital in about an hour. Local anaesthetic so you don’t feel too uncomfortable while a nurse chats rubbish to you to take your mind off what they’re doing. Although you are numbed up down there my one memory is the feeling in my stomach that I got, it’s the same sick feeling that you get if you get a kick in the bollocks but you get the sick in the stomach sensation without the pain.

Yeah it's tough. We have one little one and even before having her we were not worried if we didn't have children. I love her to bits and wouldn't change that but we feel for us one is enough.

It's a really tough choice

Had it and hated the whole experience, the guy doing it told me to relax as my balls were moving upwards into my groin area, RELAX ???????? There was a guy between my legs with an incredibly sharp knife, plus a 20 something nurse standing next to me, it's not a relaxing situation, afterwards I felt as though I had the biggest erection ever, when I went to the toilet button mushroom sprung to mind

It was fine - done in the doctors surgery. The only embarrassing parts are conversations whilst they operate, having to wear supportive underwear for a few days, and the handing over of a sperm sample after - how was I meant to know it was supposed to be in a sample bottle !? (Only joking)

I had it a while ago.

I have a constant ache (guys will know) the ache you get at the end of being kicked in the nuts, that's 24/7.. if I orgasm ejaculate it's like a full blown kick in the nuts it's no longer pleasurable, putting things in my pocket if I bump a specific part can drop me like a stone ..Dr says I have some scar tissue formed around some nerves.. I can only say from my experience things aren't always straight forward.

Had it done about 15 years ago. The procedure is nothing but I still suffer pain and discomfort now. The tubes have "unravelled" apparently and my left nut is tender to the touch. If someone gets too enthusiastic and grabs my balls too tight during sex, it's a bit of a passion killer.

It was still worth it though as contraceptives were hurting my partner badly.

Had it done long time ago, just as folk said before, be 100% sure before you go through with it.

You will be fine, its a simple procedure and feel a bit uncomfortable afterwards. When i recovered the first orgasm was so intense, i thought i was going to backfire or explode lol.

Don't do it. It fucks up your testosterone production and you'll get weak, fat, have no energy and suffer from depression.

Look it up, the long term health problems outweigh any benefit by far.

You can get weak, fat, depressed and have no energy for all sorts of reasons. Bit of a sweeping statement but if that's what you want to believe then I don't suppose anyone will make you think different.

My husband doesn't regret a thing. We have 4 kids so it was the right decision for us. His dad drove him there and back in a few hours. It was very uncomfortable for a few days. I looked after him lol, bought him a few pairs of snuggly joggers and comfy boxers and he had a few days off work as his job is very manual. It was scary when we had sex the first few times. By a couple of months later it was all forgotten about and as though it hadn't happened. 6 years later, no regrets or complications from either of us. Good luck with your decision.

I had the snip about 16 years ago..on the NHS. Doc who did it was as old as Dr Crippen and the most unsteadyist hands ever! Shaking like he had the D.T's! Had the 4 injections in base of knob and knackers to freeze everything..he then starts to cut .err, I can feel that! He replies it's just the tugging sensation you're feeling... He then hooks out the tubes with a crochet needle, I can definitely feel that! Another few injections and everything eventually goes numb and rest of op goes fine..Spend the Friday afternoon lying on sofa with achy plums.

Saturday, kids are away, wife is frisky, I'm only human..we end up having sex.. happy days I don't bleed to death etc..I shower that evening and oh my god!

Plums are the size of apples and my knob looks like I've attacked it with a claw hammer! The bruising was spectacular! Top tip. Wait at least a week before getting fight with it!

DONT do it. I had it 10 years ago, worst thing ever I did. I suffered a spell of impotence after it as it was so painful. Was only a short while but was a huge thing at the time, well not as huge as I wanted! All working now on that regard thankfully.

Two years later I suffered a swollen testicle where fluid gathered around my bollock, this was another bigger operation and my Doctor said was probably caused by the snip.

I do not ejaculate as strong or as much.

My Doctor said had I asked him he would have advised against.

I know most don’t have problems, but if you are the one in a thousand that gets problems then it isn’t funny.

For me it’s AVOID!

Drs appt first, conversation about no more kids.

Referral to surgeon, further conversation about no more kids.

Shave yourself.

Lie back, quick swab with iodine type solution, incision cut and tie off, same again on the other one.

Tight fitting underwear, no lifting.

Dead easy!

Had it 10 years ago. Procedure was a bit uncomfortable but I was chatting up the dirty Irish nurse at the time which took my mind off it. Was told not to use it for a week ... but next morning we had to check if it still worked. (It did!).

Some occasional soreness after orgasm for a few months afterwards but apart from that good as gold. Massive upsides: unlimited bareback sex with Mrs K and no worries about babies.

A pretty straight forward procedure, no pain or discomfort during and after. The worst part was being laid up and unable to do anything strenuous for a few days.

However, DO NOT distract the surgeon during the procedure, we got chatting, he sticks the needle with the local anaesthetic in, we chat, he goes to cut..... and gets the wrong nut!!!... cue screams from me, and him saying "shut up, it isn't that bad"... my reply "yeah, you lie down and I'll chop into your nuts with a sharp knife, see how you howl"!!

"Oh you poor things .... try child birth .... now thats painful . "

But women are naturally designed for child-birth... there is nothing natural about a vasectomy.

Having said that, mine was fairly straightforward. The surgeon did the "Just a little prick" joke before injecting the anaesthetic, and I had a nice lady nurse who just held my hand and comforted me through the whole process . There was a bit of pain, but it was short lived and I was back at work two hours later.

The recovery was easy enough too, I never even felt the need for any pain killers, the bruising was probably the worst bit. We were having sex after two days, and obviously Anita was required to extract regular semen samples.

The biggest negative to it all for me, was that it was about two weeks before I could ride my bike again.

Green Cove Springs

Had it done after coming out to the UK for the christening of my new baby brother 6 years ago that was born to my 74 year old dad, and his younger than me wife.

Definitely did not want to see me being an older dad. Operation went fine with general anesthesia, was out walking the next day at a car show which probably put about 5 miles on me.

Definitely being single it has opened up some doors for me and makes both me and a partner more comfortable knowing that there won't be any pregnancies.

Only embarrassing part was going for the sperm sample afterwards, had the wrong address and went to a woman's clinic where I was definitely the center of Attraction with a few Snickers in the background from the ladies. Went up there saying I'm trying to provide a sperm sample with all the women waiting in the waiting room. The lady at the reception desk was quite loud and informed me as well as everybody else in the waiting room that sperm samples were given at the other Clinic 2 miles down the road. All I could do was hold my head high as I walked out of there and smile at the ladies that were staring at me LOL.

Got down to the next place and went fortunately right to where I needed to go, have to laugh about it, was the typical place that you hear about. Lady shows me into a room shows me a pile of magazines tells me how to operate the remote to get the porn on the TV, (asked if she had any favorites and she said they were all good), actually was kind of a turn-on knowing that she would be outside of there while I'm in there obviously knowing what I needed to do. Gave a ring to a friend while I was in there and she talked me through it, was quite exciting actually guess I'm just kinky that way. Thankfully she helped me to put a big load in the plastic container. Then had to walk through the reception area with the clear plastic container and give it to the female receptionist on the other side, funny how they look at it, seems like they try and sum it up hopefully I got a higher score than most for volume sample.

All in all good experience for me no regrets having it done sorry to hear of the complications on here of others.

Had mine done about 10 years ago, with no issues whatsoever. The thought of it is the worst part, but after a few hours of feeling uncomfortable down there, the next hurdle is the first time you cum after the procedure. Again, it’s all in your head, it’ll be fine. Just look forward to that certification of being a Jaffa!

One thing I will point out here though; I took the opportunity of some ‘payback’ for the months of pregnancy I went through, and lazed around all weekend like a wounded soldier, tight pants on for support, bag of frozen sweet corn to numb the area, feet up, tv on, kick back and relax. You’ve earned it

I’m a coward when it comes to having my balls cut open. So I insisted on a general anaesthetic. It was all done very quickly and I went home the same day.

It was sore for a couple of days an my balk bag looked like a big bruised apple. But I was still with my ex and we already had a number of kids. Had she gone for the female equivalent it would have been a major operation. So it made sense that I had it done...

Pmsl! Yep, as you can see from my profile pics, I've certainly ballooned in size since I had the snip 10 years ago! Unfortunately, due to discretion reasons, you cannot see the result my body's testosterone production has had on my hairline (but it is significant ). I doubt these things you mention are directly related to vasectomy, but I'm doing just fine thank you.

As a footnote; the GP I booked my procedure through told me not to worry about it, it was a great thing to do, most of the GP's in that medical centre had had it done, and "just be a man"
