I know what type of site this is and why the majority of people are on here. I also know some need discretion and dont want the whole world knowing about this side.

But are socials a dead thing especially before a first meet? At times you would think I was talking about the plague when I ask about a social to see if we get on and for safety reasons. I know this is not facebook but still or is it just me?

Definitely agree with a social first, no exceptions.

If the attraction isn’t there on all sides we don’t feel obliged to play in a social meet only.

I think people who won't do a social 1st either have something to hide ie a partner or just want a quick shag ,no effort made.

We avoid them and only meet likeminded people who enjoy conversation and a friendship too.

Not for me they are not sometimes you come across someone and think a social is best first and if they reuse its an easy goodbye from me.

I mention some fantasies on profile but do not expect them from every or any meet but gives an idea what I may seek. Don't want to mislead people

They don't seem to be the issue as people are often happy to meet and engage them but not a social before. Most seem after a quick meet and go.

When I first started..there was no internet, no socials..it was a case of word of mouth ..sneaky ads in the local paper. You just got on with it and took your chance..it all seems a lot more complicated now and even harder than it did with no internet and the like, because of all the barriers folk have up now .. people did have less hang ups too..I never did not have sex, even if they were not my type..I was not after love but an orgasm

In our eight years on and off fab , we’ve never had a social . But then we are a couple so we have each other’s back if things go tits up . As a single we can understand wanting one in a public place for safety reasons .

Couldn't agree more, we are perfectly happy with each other and the vanilla friends we have so see no point in a social meet (interview) we know what we want and that is why we will only meet at clubs so if the meet goes nowhere we can still have fun together.

I think socials are widely used on Fab.

We generally meet at clubs but do meet from Fab and always have a social first.

We like meeting people, so we even have socials with no expectation of sex at all at times

Socials can mean different things to different people

On another site I help arrange group socials for people to meet and make like minded friends

I don't do socials at swinging clubs as at the moment that is not my scene

What I was more on about one to one social over a drink or coffee to see if get on and on the same hymn sheet

I have had meets that ended very quickly in the past due to different ideas or expectations, despite detailed chats. To me a social could avoid that

In my first year i went to multiple socials?

Liverpool chester and fetish group socials.

None of these have been in a venue that is invite only?

That might be because people don't want to hire out busy city centre clubs to meet other swingers at their cost?

In my first year i went to multiple socials?

Liverpool chester and fetish group socials.

None of these have been in a venue that is invite only?

Lol nowhere near being arrogant, but if I was to be I would suggest if you can't afford to hire or pay an entry fee for the said social it pretty much explains why you attend them!

I've tried to arrange little evening get togethers for a dozen or so at mine, just a social thing over dinner or drinks .. sort of a get to know people but I've found people somewhat apathetic in the main ...

on a personal note I do prefer to meet someone on a social basis first

This right here. I've more of a need to be seduced by someone's personality than a photo and a few messages on Fab before I find them attractive enough.

I've always met alone first as being happy with the potential other man is something I have to really want to play with before A gets to meet him! On a safety front, if it's a one-to-one social there are people around and it's less awkward to make the decision to leave rather than do something you may regret. I saw a brilliant scheme in pubs, I think in St Neots, where if you were on a date (which is kind of what I view a social to be anyway!) and felt unsafe or similar you could go to the bar and ask for Abigail as code for 'help me'.

I'm not against people not having socials, horses for courses. Our horse just happens to be a very sociable one
