Interested to see what people think the average number of years people knock off their age on the site.

Our ages are out by a few months because we don’t enter real dates of birth but the last couple of people we met have knocked around 4 years of their real age.

So we now assume everyone is on average 4 years older than their published age. Feel we’re maybe being too honest . Lol

Anyone else noticed the 4 year age deduction?

LMAO the worst is a guy who was 56 last time I was here now he claims 35 on his new profile. But in general people under 25 add years to make 25 mature men will knock about 10 years off.

I'm honest, which is very frustrating at 47 has many people cut of at 40 or 45, so you miss out. But I find this whole age cut off ridiculous anyway. I'd rather talk and meet people for who the are. I used to have my age 18 to 99. But that was lost on people when I got stick for it.

It never crossed my mind to misrepresent my age when I joined Fab.

It’s kind of sad to think it’s common practice on here (particularly when many ladies age filters preclude us older chaps...not that I’m complaining about people’s right to have an age preference)

My age on here, is my age.

I've had a couple of socials which surprised me, they've either had a very hard life or lied.

And I've spotted new profiles appear local to me, where I know they've come back adding several years to their previous one.

We’ve found it very common. Bet if you plotted the age of all site users there would be peaks at 29, 34, 39, etc to get within the common block ages. If someone is 41 you can understand them shading a couple of years off to 39 to open up more potential meets.

I’m the age I say I am, and my DOB is accurate on here.

The highest I’ve experienced on here is 11 years.

The guy had 45 on his profile but admitted to being 56, and he looked 56. I really wanted to tell him that you’re not fooling anyone and the reason he’s having trouble getting a meet (he mentioned this) is probably because people can see he’s lying about his age!

There’s also a man on here whose son I know, I blocked him almost instantly but his age was out by 7 years!

The most amusing are the ones who knock twenty years of their age and actually rummage around in their loft to find an old Polaroid or two to use as profile pics.

They then complain when, disguised as a much older person with much less hair and teeth, they're turned away at the door after turning up hoping you won't notice.

Suppose people lie about it because it gets them past filters then they’re hoping they’ll get away with it on the night of a meet. It’s understandable as to why they do it. People lie to get what they want.

Having just reached the big Five Oh; I’m forever talking about it (Forty Ten sounds better) but again like 46 it does seem that 49 is a common cut off point. I can’t see any great difference in myself since January of this year but it seems for some I’m now way over the hill.

But I couldn’t put a younger age on my profile as I probably give myself away in the first hour anyway; and dishonesty isn’t very sexy.

Perhaps I should put 52 on my profile and give myself a couple of years to catch up.

People lie to get to meet someone in the first place you see profiles deleted and come back 5 years younger to get round filters. People take the chance they can buff it once they get to meet people most won't admit to doing it though.

One thing I've heard is that it's quite frustrating for people to be one or two years outside of the limit, so there tends to be peaks at say 39 or 49 in an attempt to squeak in. Obviously a short term strategy, but I don't think most people could reliably tell that a 40 year old is actually 40 not 39.

We're totally honest and everyone we've met has been x

My age is honest as is my marital status, I appreciate the need for discretion about birth dates etc, but honesty breeds trust and confidence. Sad thing is at my age the majority on here assume I am not 'up to it'. Sad as those I have played with have not had any complaints.

My age is honest to the day!

Don’t really see the point in not being truthful about it, we’re all adults here (or at least we should be) in this day and age with diversity as broad as it is might as well just be honest about it.

We know lots of people who lie about their ages.. We've got our real ages on here.. It does mean that we often fall out of people's age ranges, but as most of our meets are in clubs or on holidays it doesn't really worry us. Quite often we have played with people who admitted that they would have dismissed us based on our profile ages, but in real life are glad we had a chance meet and sometimes have changed the range on their profile as a result!

100% my real age. I celebrated my 50th at Eurekas do everyone knew my age. No point lying about it.

I’ve met guys who lied about their ages big time. One said on his profile he was 41 but was really 52. Another says he’s 53 but is mid 60’s. 29 on profile but 21 really.

A few women put they’re about 5 yrs younger but one says she’s 51 and is mid 60’s.

Don’t get me started on height lol

I’m 6ft. A guy said he was 5’11”. When I met him he was actually 4’11”, it was like standing next to a child . I made excuses and left.

I get that. However, as an ‘oldie’ I’m just over a common age limit.

Who am I kidding though, I don’t get ‘meets’ anyway.

I had lots of meets from POF two years back, all the ladies knocked a few years off and upon meeting had absolutely no issue in admitting it.

But people are entitled to their “age limits”, lying about your age just to get into someones age limits is just creepy and not on in my opinion.

Why not embrace your age and choose from the women who actually want to meet you. If someone can lie about their age they can lie about much more serious things too.

All those ladies who knocked a few years of are just as bad. I can only assume those who lie are ashamed of their age and aren’t comfortable with it at all.

The older you get the more years you are going to shave off your age.

I'm honest. 49. When I was 25 I looked like 18. (So I was told). But as soon as one starts to lose hair your age creeps up. So by the age of 30 I looked about 35. So in 5 years I'd gained 17 years!

How is someone's age preference shallow? Your maximum age is set at 55. Does that mean you're "shallow" for not wanting to meet people who are 56, 57, 58...? Or is that just your preference?

I think some women lie on here but they don't have to as most women can find enough people interested. Guys who are really in there early mid 50s well most lie and put 47/48 if they have been here before as it gets them under the 50 threshold some even stretch it to 45 its the same with guys 41-46 going for 38/39 though most lie and say they don't. Is it honest? Hell no, is it fair to mislead people? Hell no! But then I can understand why they do it just like married people don't disclose it and say single I am not saying its right but a little honest is nice.

Well working on what most guys do I must be around 62 or 63... not bad then...

Most guys, or just most guys you've come across where you've been able to verify their real ages?

My age is true but did meet a lady who’s profile said 49 and she admitted when I met her she was 59, and too be honest didn’t bother me at all.

I'm honest. Although I do look in my late 20's. Not my opinion! Said by my meets and by plenty of others from fab at a large social gathering I attended.

I'd say it's most guys! I've seen it myself at a fab social gathering I attended. He admitted he lied. Most who I've questioned about it on here or in person, confess their real ages in the end.

I think it's very wrong to lie about your age if you look nothing like the age you're pretending to be. I've walked away from plenty of in person meets due to being deceived. If they're honest and admit the lie before I make the effort and expense to meet up, that would be different.

Mine is a few months out, in fact I think it's a whole year! The only reason for that is so that I don't get recognised.

It's only a number...

But you are right. There are clearly people pretending to be younger that their years and it bwcomes obvious when you meet
